I know Ron campaigned for Reagan in '76 and vice versa, and seems to be one of his earliest supporter, but that ultimately, Ron felt Reagan's presidency was a big failure (like most libertarians).

I was just wondering if Ron was a personal friend of Reagan, and if they kept contact through/after his presidency, or if it was more a political alliance.s. I know Reagan supported Ron and all in the 80s, but still, I'm wondering if things turned sour in the 80s due to Reagan's politics.

Ron fought for him in the convention in 76 and thought Reagan had good personal instincts on monetary policy but wouldn't implement them. Apparently Reagan told Ron 'they won't let me'. I don't think Ron is too overwhelmed by that sort of reasoning, but I think he thought Reagan was a good man, even if he would have managed things differently himself. You have to remember it was a choice amongst a field. Who in that field do you think was better, even from today's vantage point?
