at the same time as Ron's hearing, and it was expected Bernanke would draw attention to that hearing instead of Ron's?

Well, looky at this....

Ah, whata coincidence... 365 days in the year and the schedules conflict.

I's like to see Ron's hearing in a coliseum!

I think Ron should pull a bait and switch and just postpone it for a day.

So, Ben is going to the Ryan thing over Ron's? Is this what I'm getting?

I don't think Ben was ever expected at Ron's, but Ron's was getting media about it being to see what role the Fed had in creating unemployment, so Ben went to Ryans with bigger headlines for the exact same time. It is to draw attention and try to make it appear Ryan's is 'more important' and Ron's is 'less important'.

It also sounds like Ryan made an effort to cause some confusion.
From his press release:

(1/31/11)
House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (WI-01) announced today that the Committee will hold two hearings next week focused on the economy and jobs, and the impact of the Federal budget on both. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke is confirmed to appear before the House Budget Committee on Wednesday, February 9. Congressional Budget Office Director Doug Elmendorf will appear on Thursday, February 10. Both hearings will take place in 210 Cannon House Office Building, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

It almost sounds like he's referring to the hearing Pauls having, but he's not.

Looks like it. I'm sure he'll say 'stern things', but nothing important.

On the Financial Services Committee's homepage (http://financialservices.house.gov/), there's a link to view a live webcast of committee hearings. I'm not sure if the Subcommittee hearing will be broadcast live but when it's over, they will post the hearing online in their archived section.
