I find that very difficult to believe. I spend less on that than I do on any of these things : property tax , insurance's , gasoline , phone , tv , elecric etc. etc.

I guess we are reverting back to working just to stay alive.

NIA blows. In the off chance that they're correct, they're just fear-mongering right now.

It is true that Americans will spend a much greater percentage of income on food, 40 percent is pure postulation but I wouldn't be suprised

Hmmm...sounds like fear-mongering to me. Egypt has a different diet than the US does, as I understand. Shortages in wheat to us would be annoying, but wouldn't impoverish people (except for those who eat mostly wheat products). Really, average Americans eat TOO MUCH wheat(statistically). AFAIK, US farmers can still produce enough wheat for regular use (even excluding non-organic). Most food here is either domestically grown or imported from latin America. I won't be up late worrying about this.

Anybody taking in for inflation and the rising price of fuel to run the farm equipment? Doesn't seem like such a prediction is out of the question.

While it does depend on income level, the average American spends roughly ten percent of their income on food. (9.8% in 2007) http://www.allbusiness.com/food-beverage/food-beverage-sector-performance-food-prices/11793740-1.html That would mean that people would be spending four times that (even as they move to less expensive food alternatives).

Isn't NIA George's group? They have been hyping hyperinflation forever already.

Hey guys, ghemmy may be a scam. I don't know but consider this

1) your 10 percent on food number is from 2007. today id guess its at least 15 percent. food is at an all-time high and climbing especially soybeans, sugar, corn.

40 percent may be a little high or low, but it is very true food and energy will soon consume a huge huge portion of the average guy's expenses.

ignore this at your own peril.

The revolution will prevent this from happening, I hope. The Marxists will continue to be voted out and free markets allowed to function. If food becomes more valuable, more people will become farmers and grow gardens, etc. Government is the problem, and more people are waking up to that fact.
