Twenty-one percent of respondents in the PPP poll said Huckabee was their first choice for the party nod, while 19% went for Palin, and 18% said they supported Gingrich. The poll has a 4.3% margin of error, meaning that Huckabee's slim lead is statistically insignificant.
Mitt Romney wasn't too far behind the pack, garnering 15% of the vote, followed by Rep. Ron Paul (8%), Tim Pawlenty (4%), Sen. John Thune (3%), and Gov. Mitch Daniels (1%.)
This is a decent result for Nebraska. Those midwest states generally aren't too libertarian.
Most libertarian states are probably Arizona, New Hampshire, Alaska, and all the Big Sky states (Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Dakotas, some of Colorado) and to some extent, the Pacific Northwest (Oregon and Washington). Texas and Virginia are also more libertarian than average. Georgia and Indiana also, as the LP has traction in those places.

Not a bad result, just wish we could get out of the usual 5th place.

This is what he was polling at the end of his 2008 Presidential run... what will he poll when he finally gets going and gets his first $10+ MILLION single-day money bomb?

Has there been any state poll where Ron Paul is lower than 5%? If not, I'm tempted to call bullshit on those Rasmussen polls that show him at 4% nationally. An explanation would be that he's at 1% in California and New York, which isn't impossible.

Well , if Palin ,Thune , Pawlenty & Daniels do not get in that is maybe 8% more for Paul and 18% more up for grabs ?

Rasmussen was the worst pollster for this past election cycle, no reason to conclude they have mystically gotten better in the past three months. It is funny how we use Rasmussen when it's convenient for us and shows good results, but reject it wildly when it shows Ron's results. Stop paying attention to Rasmussen completely, they are garbage. I remember I was polled last year by Rasmussen and they gave a bunch of options for who would win the Stanley Cup, I wanted to select the Chicago Blackhawks, but they weren't an option. Well, they won. Great job Rasmussen!

That's not bad at all.....also interesting to see romney in 4th place.
If Palin doesn't run, Ron has a fantastic shot at becoming the "tea party candidate". With Rand and the Judge both endorsing him automatically, all it takes is Glenn Beck or Palin backing Ron due to pressure and Ron could actually win this thing.
Whoever this mystery "tea party candidate" turns out to be will win the nomination - that much is for sure.

Good point. Whoever is the "tea party candidate". I think Ron if he runs, will gain momentum very quickly. I know I'm not being objectional but, if his message gets out now in debates like it did in 08' he is going to jump in the polls. Alot of people have heard his name now, but they haven't listened to him yet. These same people are talking about what he has always been saying. Is Ron up for becoming the next president is what I'm wondering. I think he will win it if he runs this time, and it isn't going to be the big uphill battle we had last time. First debate, he is going to shoot out like a cannon
