But it could be that there's an inordinately high amount of traffic. This might be a good thing if it means that the word is getting out about the change in plans for the Nov. 5th fund raising scheme.

Everybody, if you were planning on donating on Nov. 5th and you're able to do it now instead, then do it now. The more the better, the sooner the better.
