On Tuesday, Senators Rand Paul of Kentucky and Mike Lee of Utah will join Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and Iowa Rep. Steve King in what is being billed as a "first-ever Tea Party Town Hall." All four lawmakers are members of their chambers' version of a Tea Party caucus.

The event will put the four Republicans in front of an audience that is expected to be largely friendly, but one that will certainly be very demanding.

In a statement, the Tea Party Express said it is teaming up with TeaPartyHD.com for the event. The lawmakers will talk to, and take questions from, activists sitting in a live audience and from others participating via social media outlets like Twitter and Facebook.

Yeah. The only thing about this is he bolsters MB's credentials with the Tea Party when she is a relatively late comer with some pretty inconsistent votes (not to detract from what she is learning on the Fed.) Looks like she'll be running in the Presidential primaries.

Still, Rand is living up to what he promised.

I'm a little leery of Rand getting tangled in all the groups 'Express' 'Freedomworks' 'Patriots'.....the national ones with established politico leaders. I hope Rand has a clear idea of the course he wants to chart and is going along with each of these only so far as it furthers that course.

This is off topic, but at least Orrin Hatch understands the importance of thorium as a future source for nuclear energy.

I'm confident in his abilities to co-opt the co-opted.

Who watched the whole thing? Every MSM review I ran across featured Orrin Hatch... :(

I watched it all. You didn't miss much. Rand gave like a 3-minute speech at the beginning, then he disappeared like halfway though before he could take any questions from the audience. The rest was pretty boring, there was one question on the Federal Reserve but nothing else worth mentioning. You can watch the whole thing here:

Go to about 6:50 if you want to see the Rand.

No doubt Rand fulfilled his obligation and left. With Orrin Hatch featured, it turned into a farce.
