Republican Proposes Doing Away With Driver's Licenses (http://nation.foxnews.com/culture/2011/02/01/republican-proposes-doing-away-drivers-licenses)

Fox News, CBS Atlanta
January 31, 2011

A state lawmaker from Marietta is sponsoring a bill that seeks to do away with Georgia driver's licenses.

State Rep. Bobby Franklin, R-Marietta, has filed House Bill 7 (http://www1.legis.ga.gov/legis/2011_12/fulltext/hb7.htm), calling it the "Right to Travel Act."

In his bill, Franklin states, "Free people have a common law and constitutional right to travel on the roads and highways that are provided by their government for that purpose. Licensing of drivers cannot be required of free people, because taking on the restrictions of a license requires the surrender of an inalienable right."

According to wikipedia, Bobby Franklin, purposed a bill that would make gold and silver tender for paying debts in Geogia, and he purposed a bill that would tax the Fed in Georgia (like a private bank) !

Why should there be licenses when private certification can do better? It's done with fitness trainers as well as with paragliding/hangliding.

Love the idea but it'll never pass. This state just recently caved and changed the law to require people 18 and over to wear seat belts in trucks. Guess they needed some additional ticket revenue.
