In year-end federal finance reports on Monday, the GOP central committee showed that $2 million of its debt came during Steele's final two weeks as he sought to keep hold of his chairmanship. Bush really destroyed the RNC. Under his watch, they closed down the phone bank operation because donors refused to give because of too much spending, amnesty and the Iraq war. At that time they laid off many people. They made all the fundraiser allegedly sign non disclosure agreements and invented a cover story about computers being out dated and such or so I have been told. It was all to protect Bush's image.

Now the RNC staff is down to 83 people. Fundraising has dropped in half in the last two years. So the weakened state of the RNC is good news for conservatives, Ron Paul types, tea party activists.
