Donor wants its green back

The National Republican Trust spent nearly $100,000 last year to help Scott Brown win the U.S. Senate seat of the late Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat, but now the conservative political group wishes it had that money back to help kick Mr. Brown out of office.

Saying the Republican senator is no different from a Democrat, the head of the group is calling for Mr. Brown to donate to charity or disgorge campaign money equal to how much the trust spent supporting him during the 2010 campaign.

The trust’s executive director, Scott Wheeler, said supporters knew Mr. Brown wasn’t going to be a die-hard conservative when they supported him early and often in his run against Martha Coakley, the Democratic state attorney general and once heavy favorite to succeed Mr. Kennedy.

But Mr. Wheeler said he and his group’s conservative backers are now disillusioned, citing Mr. Brown’s vote to ratify the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (New START) with Russia, which the group sharply opposed.

“New START is something he should have been able to vote against,” Mr. Wheeler said.

"We supported you on the condition that you would be a conservative, and not the liberal you campaigned as. But since you've turned out to be everything you told us you were, we want our money back!"

He isn't either.

In fact, I shudder at the thought of having Count Chocula with my tea.

Dude the election in mass was a joke. Brown is like a mccain. Coakley was endorsed by swingin bill clinton. Kennedys own county voted for scott brown. It was pretty funny actually.

Why is the START treaty always the litmus test for Republicans?

I've been trying to get Republicans to wake up to Senator Isakson (GA)'s RINOness and even the bailout wasn't enough to stir them up.

But Lord help him, 'cause he went and supported START treaty, which means the U.S. and Russia will go from having enough nuclear weaponry stockpiled to destroy the world ten times in a row, to only being able to destroy it nine times. So now he's on everyone's bye-bye list. But the bailouts will destroy the U.S. and that didn't even make anyone flinch.

That's not a defense of Scott Brown, but more of a pet peeve about a trend I'm seeing with START.

I made some lady cry when I showed her the video of his acceptance speech after she said something like "Brown/Palin 2012". Funniest moment I've had in politics.

I haven't seen "sarahgop" in a while. She was on here pushing Scott Brown like crazy leading up that election. And some RPF'ers even fell for it. How anyone could be surprised that Brown would be a liberal is beyond me.

Can someone explain to me how a group can give 100K in campaign donations when individuals are limited to twenty some hundred?

PACs can run ads and things like that, so can individuals, over 2400. Im not sure the pac can "give" 100k to the campaign. But they can spend it on him.

They can't run an ad directly for the candidate, can they (if over the 2400)?
