I hear Bolton's been considering a 2012 Pres. run........................................

Well - the Randians seem to like him (purely accidental discovery - it's the first result for "Bolton 2012"). :x http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2010/06/bolton-2012.html

Thinkprogress has been covering the lying John Bolton for a while now. Here's a post from a while ago.

Bolton: Democracy Is Not ‘Always The Answer’

In defense of Bolton, Mubark may use military might to crush democratic will of his own people but he is good for Israel as he keeps border with Gaza concentration camp closed as someone pointed out. Bolton is in bed with Israeli lobby agents.

Well they are primarily discussing an interview between Bolton and the radio hack Levin. As you can expect, the two warned of the muslim boogeyman and jihadists that are sure to take over Egypt and wage jihadi war with Israel.

LEVIN: So what do you make with what’s going on in Egypt right now?

BOLTON: Well, I think it’s a real crisis for the regime. I think the outpourings in the street that have now been joined by the Muslim Brotherhood really do put the issue squarely on the table [...] My take is that they are digging in for a fight, they intend to resist, and that the real alternative is not Jefferson democracy versus the Mubarak regime, but that it’s the Muslim Brotherhood versus the Mubarak regime, and that has enormous implications for the U.S., for Israel, and our other friends in the region.

LEVIN: See, that’s my take on it too. I’m not aware of these spontaneous Jeffersonian democracy drives in the Arab world. Maybe I could be missing something. Mike Ledeen makes the point, I think he’s right, that every Jihadi nutjob is probably pouring into Egypt right now.

BOLTON: Oh, this is the big opportunity. That’s why so much of the Obama administration opposition to it has been feckless. [...] And the Muslim Brotherhood knows how to use Twitter just like naive college students do. So I don’t disagree. There are a lot of people in the streets who have legitimate grievances, they want more open government, so even if Mubarak were to fall, those idealistic people aren’t going to create the new government, the Brotherhood is.

Democracy.....as long as it is a democracy of the US's choosing I suppose.

This.

Besides, who knows what will happen with the power gap that will be left by Mubarak's regime?

For all you know, the Muslim Brotherhood might fill the power gap with an Iranian style theocracy.

The military may try to fill in the void and install a dictator like Musharraf.

Its not like these coups are uncommon in that part of the world!

If you are afraid of what may be, then you reap what is. There is never a guarantee in the future, just ask the CSA.

Let's just say I am more skeptical and rather cynical about the Egyptian revolt than you are. ;)

Well, even if that may be, why would you hold a position that they are better off under tyranny, than trying to ameliorate their conditions? It could end up worse, yes, but you never know until you act. I will say though, that their revolution hinges on their ability to understand the philosophy of liberty if things are going to get worse, or better. From what I have seen I can definitely tell the people want vastly more civil liberties. Economics, I have no idea, but maybe I'm way too much Jeffersonian for most people :p I would like to see a revolution every 20 years to renew the spirit of liberty amongst the people and to instill fear in the ruling elite.

Remember, Jefferson gave his famous quote in regards to Shay's Rebellion, which he overwhelmingly supported while Washington, and the rest of the cronies supported more centralized authority and cracked down on them just like British regulars did to the colonies. I think Jefferson was at his best while he was in France.

PS: Democracy sucks. :p

It's directly funded by George Soros (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Center_for_American_Progress#Funding), among other groups and people they won't name. I find it appalling that anybody here thinks they're a reputable site in any sense of the word.

Agree with everything you said but I doubt most people from that part of the world understand the part in bold (Just that I grew up in a similar region and from what I have seen, I am not optimistic that they understand the concept of liberty).
