Why I Fight Against Gun Control

I made the most stupid decision of my life when I decided, several months before the Luby’s shooting, to stop carrying a revolver in my purse in the event that I would be caught and lose my chiropractor’s license. That decision left me unarmed at the time when I most needed a gun. I’m not mad at the guy that killed 23 people that day. How can I be mad at a rabid dog? I don’t blame guns. I blame politicians that legislated away my right to carry a gun to protect myself and my family.

Book Reviews

“Ever since her parents were murdered in Luby’s Cafeteria in Killeen, Texas, in 1991, Suzanna Hupp has been one of the most effective witnesses and advocates for concealed carry and the Second Amendment. Her memoir recounts how guns have affected her life, from childhood, through the Luby’s shooting, to her decade of service in the Texas Legislature. For anyone interested in the fight for concealed carry, this is a must read.”

Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (http://www.ccrkba.org/).

“Suzanna Gratia Hupp is one of the most powerful voices in the responsible armed citizens’ movement. I remember watching her speak at an event in Texas, with local news reporters in the front row. Before she took the podium, several of the news folks were literally sneering at what they expected to hear. As she spoke, you could see a change in their body language and expressions. By the time she was done, some of them were wiping away tears…and the next day, not one wrote a negative story.”

Massad Ayoob, handgun editor of Guns magazine (http://www.gunsmagazine.com/) and law enforcement editor of American Handgunner (http://www.americanhandgunner.com/)

“From Luby’s to the Legislature is a compelling call to remove laws from the books that put bureaucrats and other public servants in charge of prohibiting people (their bosses) from carrying firearms for their protection. This book needs to be placed in the hands of those who think that it is moral to compel people to be victims.”

Larry Pratt, Gun Owners of America (http://gunowners.org/).

I support the "shall issue" right to carry a concealed handgun unless otherwise prohibited in select areas by law as long as the person carrying is licensed after passing a proscribed course, exhibited a functional proficiency, and has passed a background check.

Lots of ways in which the state could weasel around "shall issue" in your statement thus turning a right into state granted privilege.

CCW was good stepping stone, now that most every state in the country is "shall issue CCW" it's time to move to the next level of freedom restoration.

CCW or "open" carry with no "permits" or "licenses".

Like Wyoming is working on and we are pushing for in NH.

That is a great video, and what makes it for me is at the very end where she states the real purpose of the 2A, to protect us from the politicians up there in Washington, while Chuck Schumer smirks at her like the arrogant ass that he is.
