Theres been talk in many states about this, but now it seems to be serious in New Jersey. Gift cards that have not been used in two years are arbitrarily deemed unclaimed property. Especially so because they rarely have any identifying info attached to them (somehow money in your pocket is treated differently). I just so happen to have such a gift card next to me that I was given 2 years and 4 months ago.

I honestly dont know what to say. Its just so...arrogant? Even when I was a socialist, I never wouldve accepted such chicanery.

Where does it say Christie wants to do this? It seems like this has been a plan going on for some time by the socialists of NJ, not a Christie plan. Actually, is I'm reading the article right, this was already legislated but has been battling through the courts for sometime.

If Christie goes along with this, it is going to really damage him politically with regular people who are now on his side for making tough decisions that need to be made like cutting budgets. I've been paying close attention to Christie, and although he has his faults, he certainly hasn't been open to the idea of raising taxes, increasing regulations, or being business unfriendly. So, if Christie has any respect for private property he should immediately make a statement that he will not go along with this, no matter what the courts decide.

Yeah really Christie is not the government, he has a lot of Dems there who are still trying to keep the government largess afloat any way possible. I can almost garantee he is opposed to it. Whether it gets tacked onto something and is part of dirty politics, well I don't know. But Christie is not going to support this.

This smacks of desperation from the lefties up there trying to keep their scam government from sinking.

Some gift card issuers were charging "fees" on unused cards which reduced their balance over time. Not sure if they are still allowed to do that- I know in California they aren't allowed to.

So, the state of New Jersey forces a Delaware corporation to allow it to steal money from an Oklahoman because his aunt shops in Jersey?

In their tyrannical dreams. If the Supreme Court upholds this crap we need to just tear it down.
