2010 documentary, Sundance film award winner, still in theaters If I'm not mistaken.

An absolute crime, what the government (and others) did to this family.

Wow, new angle that I was unaware of.

That the brass ordered all his equipment, uniform, and diary destroyed.

Another angle I was unaware of.

The cover up went all the way up the chain of command to W.

Must have learned from the police ?

I have a peripheral, but very real connection to this man, and I'm sick over what happened here.

What I take away from all of this, is once again, the standards being different.

How many other families have been fucked over like this and never got any satisfaction because they are just mundanes.

Really sickening too, is watching the Congress sluts suck the military's dick through the hearings.

The ruling class protects itself well.

Must have been some true words in the diary.

Must have been some true words in the diary.

Hard to say how he would have felt about it. A diary is not meant to be shared and not something a combat or special ops soldier should keep. It is likely the one aspect of this ( it being destroyed ) that he may have been happy about .

I have not yet seen the movie, so I hesitate to comment on it. I heard the story from one of the guys who arrived on scene a few hours after it happened and offer the following.

The driver of the vehicle could ID Tillman's team as US personnel and the gunner continued to fire at them after being told his target was friendlies.

A couple of other facts - keeping diaries is contrary to regulation (yeah people do it and blog - but that is against the rules primarily designed to safeguard the US personnel in case of capture) becuase of the possibility of operationally sensitive information being captured.

Some of the guys say that Pat could be an ass - be that as it may, it is either a case of murder or negligence on the part of the gunner and nobody wanted to touch that.

He would not have been keeping that Diary if he worked for me .

I was on a martial arts forum back when the cover up of what happened to Pat broke. I posted a story about that and was roundly attacked. The place was filled with neocons and brainwashed conservatives who were fooled into supporting all things neocon. Even their love for the military couldn't overcome their blind support for all things Bush. The swore up and down that their was no "cover up" despite all evidence to the contrary. :(

It's actually very well known that Pat was against the Iraq War and his opinion was changing on the Afghanistan War as well. He was scheduled to interview with Noam Chomsky before his life was cut short.

Meet with, maybe interview was poor phrasing on my part.

I'm pretty sure the reason Tillman was offed is because he could have swayed public opinion before the election. He was the most popular war hero, and he was about to reveal to the world that he was anti-war. The establishment couldn't have that.

Just watched the whole thing, I was familiar with the story but this was a very well done documentary that puts a spotlight on just how corrupt our military is. The most sickening part was watching the congressional hearings, what a disgrace that was...

I've thought the same thing myself.

Was the forum mma.tv?

No. It was the old USENET forum (predates the web) rec.martial-arts. Are you on mma.tv much?
