View Full Version : C4L worried about our low CPAC numbers - Convince a friend to go!

Steve Bierfeldt sent this out to people who already bought their CPAC ticket:

"Campaign for Liberty is proud to be a CPAC sponsor, but I'm worried we won't have enough of a presence there to represent the cause of liberty. There are currently hundreds of liberty advocates who will be attending CPAC, however I do not believe it will be enough. Ticket sales end January 30th and we still need more support.

If you will urge one friend or family member to come to CPAC, Campaign for Liberty will graciously give you a free autographed Constitution, signed by Ron Paul, as our gift to you. Just be certain to use promo code "CPAC Friend" when they purchase.

If each person only brought one additional friend or family member who supported the liberty cause, we would increase our impact at CPAC substantially.

If you have a valid student ID, your ticket to the conference is $11. A regular adult ticket is $89.

You can click here to get your ticket(s) today. (http://www.campaignforliberty.com/event/cpac2011.php)"

And here is how to sponsor YAL members to go... which is pretty cost effective: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?276412-How-to-sponsor-YAL-students-to-CPAC-for-as-little-as-11-also-some-lodging-options

specifically,

For every $120 you contribute, YAL will reimburse the gas for a carpool of students traveling from out of town.

For every $11 you contribute, YAL will cover the ticket price for a single student]

So basically YAL has students lined up to go but just needs the dough to make it happen? And why wasn't this plan being mentioned a month or more ago Mr Frazee? I can see helping out with the gas and such but I find it hard to believe any YAL student can't muster up a pathetic 11 bucks to cover the measly ticket.

There is nothing here for room and board. The kids would be covering that themselves. This is just transportation and the ticket. Students don't have money.

By gas and such I meant helping out with accommodations. I had my student life in the past and while I wasn't overflowing with money, I could cover small things like the price of said ticket. My main point is: why is this being pushed with only a week or so to go? Some prior planning could've averted this situation. Shouldn't YAL have been either setting aside money or focusing on CPAC for months now.. I mean, we are gearing up for 2012 afterall.

Dear ****,

Your contribution of $120.00 was received. Thank you for your support!

We are recruiting and mobilizing a youth army to overtake CPAC 2011. Your support enables us to work full-time on this goal and cover the traveling costs of many poor students. Your contribution makes this all possible.

I'll be sure to keep you informed of our progress as we plan to make this our biggest event yet.

For liberty,
Jeff Frazee

Unless you mean you can't take off work, which is separate.

But honestly, people are donating now to some guy who just joined and asked for a chip in, and no one has a clue who he is. I sure hope he plans to vote for Ron! You, people know.

I am confused as to what people are having issues with... in terms of attending.

Plane Tickets?
Gas?
Entry Tickets?

I imagine a plane ticket is out of the question. Suzu, is your issue a entry ticket/gas issue?

There is this site being passed around for cheap plane tickets (MrRocked has it) and people actually have gotten plane tickets in chip ins that I've seen. However, your chip in fills in faster if you are driving yourself, obviously.

Gezzzzz and we are only 90 miles away. Will there be tickets sold at the door if I can't muster up before the 30th? I can afford the travels, lodging and food for the 5 of us, but not the 5 tickets. I can afford myself with everything, but I really want company with me because I can't bring my dog, hard decisions I tell ya.

Suzu, is your issue a entry ticket/gas issue?

Xar, unusually large veterinary expenses for the shelter cats in December, will have me using every spare cent for credit card payments for the next six to twelve months. But even without those expenses, it would be a big stretch - $200 for gas, oil and tolls alone. Plus meals, lodging and ticket = ? probably close to $500 total, because I would have to spend 3 days on the road in each direction. That means being gone for at least a week, and I can't afford that either!

I was lucky to be able to go to SRLC because NOLA is much closer (about 650 miles - which takes me two days to drive), I have a friend in between here and NOLA where I could stay the night in both directions, my gas $ was generously donated, and it took less than a week.

But thanks for asking!

No can do, sailing - see my reply to Lord Xar (above). With any luck I will be able to make the next SRLC.

Think of it this way: if itll cost you 90 for ticket and another 100 in gas and another 100 in lodging. Thats a lot of dough. If you donate 100 beans to yal they can buy 9 tickets. Or help one person get there thus replacing you if you cant get time off to go!
