There is a guy who works in my office and for the entire four years he was here during the Bush administration he wore a hat with buttons on it saying "stop the war", "impeach Bush" and so on. Now, whenever I am reading the newspaper and he walks by, I say "Hey! It says President Obama is stopping the wars, stopping the torture, and bringing all the troops home! Oh, wait, my mistake. Nothing has changed."

Pisses him off.

I can't say I really agree with the films end conclusion. They basically are saying that the anti-war left must stop pushing socialism so much and the anti-war right(the libertarians) must stop pushing Ending the Fed and free markets. The problem I see with this is that Ending the Fed would effectively stop the wars in their tracks.

What does it matter if we actually get public opinion enough to stop these current wars, when the Federal Reserve system that let them begin in the first place still exists?

The government will find funding from other sources, as it did previously. People tolerated a 94% tax rate during WWII... Foreign loaning will continue after a massive financial/monetary restructuring in the US. Federal employees could be paid in treasuries, US could buy US bonds directly with counterfeit operations instead of the Fed using open-market transactions.

Ending the Federal Reserve would give war-mongers another obstacle, but it will not solve the problem.

Yeah, Reason is way better than most groups out there on the issues.

As for them taking a shot at Libertarians.... I agree with Reason. If you are trying to end the war, why mix it up with your other causes. Find common ground where you can.

Depressing... I am strongly non-interventionist but looking through history, I don't see many examples of our policies being implemented. Even the huge groups before WWI fell for Woodrow "He kept us out of war" Wilson, and we've been at war ever since...

The best anti-war movement in the last 100 years had to be the America First Committee, which can be argued to be the largest mass anti-war, non-interventionist movement in American History, and was led by prominent Old-Rightists like John Flynn. The Right has long held the traditional anti-war mantle, indeed, classical liberalism is a peace, non-interventionist, anti-war philosophy. I do not like the left-right dichotomy, but if anything the left is the pro-war side as evidenced by the Trotskyite Neo-Conservatives who are war mongerers of the first order, and people like Woodrow Wilson, FDR, and Abraham Lincoln who killed more Americans, stole more money, and destroyed more liberties than any others in our history.
