View Full Version : Ron Running for Senate is a mistake and a trick

It's completely obvious how the media is throwing out propaganda to get Ron to desert his House seat, not run for President, and FAIL and trying to become a Senator. All it will bring is his elimination from politics.

Don't fall for this bullshit! I already know Ron is not stupid enough to fall for this and won't run, especially after getting that committee.

Yup, been thinking the same thing. Ron's too smart for them though, so we should be fine.

I doubt he'd fail to get elected as Senator but it's not a serious option to consider at his age anyway. President or status quo.

If he was 20 years younger a move for senate would be smart. But there is no reason for that now.

If Medina got 20% against a strong field of candidates, her chances are good against 2012's weaker field.

He should keep flirting with the idea just to keep his name in the news. But yeah, I agree, keep house seat and run for pres.

Well the establishment guy he would be running against is 65 years old. I personally think a Senate seat is better if he has a good chance and I think he does.

I'm not too set on it though. As I said in the other thread I really think he should use this to leverage the movement though:

1) Rand gets all his committee assignments he wants in the Senate
2) Movement on Audit the Fed in the Senate
3) Johnson for Senate
4) Speaking slot at 2012 RNC Convention
5) Hostettler for Senate
6) RedState/Demint Fiscal Conservative for US Senate from Texas.

It is not a trick.

I don't think he should do it. Besides, he wants the 17th repealed!

I agree with the thread title.

The media sure is all over the place (see: Google News) pushing this Ron Paul for Senate idea despite the fact that Paul has never indicated any interest in running. Almost feels like they're hoping he runs for Senate and not the White House.

Give up the House seat and not run for President? Sounds like the RNC's dream.

I don't mean to be so blunt but I'm just too set on the thought that this Senate seat is purposely being dangled in front of Ron's face because it's nothing more than, as Slutter McGee said, a TRAP.

I think he won't go for it. I just posted a new article on it. http://blogs.chron.com/txpotomac/2011/01/poll_ron_paul_could_be_strong.html

I DO think his being seen as a frontrunner for senate helps increase his credibility nationwide both for policy action and for 2012, and I don't mind seeing these stories, at all. But I don't expect him to give up his subcommittee for this.

I, for one, am happy to see all this positive media coverage for Ron Paul For Senate 2012.....

It solidifies him as a national conservative figure

I DO NOT want him to run for Senate, but, had this occurred just a couple years ago I'd be insulted his name wasn't thrown around as a possibility.

RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT 2012!!!

This is only good news. He won't run, but this free press gets him seen by more people.

why didnt PPP poll Debra Medina?

Because they wanted Ron Paul headlines?

I don't think they expected Ron to be this high. They did mention how well she did in her race, in the write up.

I'd support him if he did run, but he won't, and I'm glad.

Agree with the title. Run for the highest office if you're gonna do politics. Senate is a trap.
