How exactly does one "fetch" a ton and a half of gold?

Inquiring minds want to know.

So what is that, about 90 banker's bars worth?

Edit: It'd be around 109 banker's bars at 400 troy oz a bar.

What does a bank bar weigh ?

So one troy ounce of gold would equal 0.0685714286lbs of gold. There are 400 ounces in a banker's bar (I think), which would equate to 109 bars. 109 bars would be around 43,750 ounces of gold at say, $1,350 USD per ounce would be about $59,062,500, at a spot of around 1.33 USD per EUR would be about EUR 44M.

I think you are right about the 400 ounces, that is the number i was thinking of.

Well , they are going to be dissapointed when they get to Saudi . I would much rather be fishing off the coast of Carthage in Tunisia than Moving to the Kingdom of Saud .

Do you think they charged her an excess baggage fee on that? Or did it fit in the overhead compartment?

At least the political elite in Africa don't blindly trust fiat.

depends on the denomination of FRN.

One ton of gold at todays price is $1361.00/oz = $43,552,000/ton.

There are approximately 454 "notes" per pound.
so, a ton of $1 dollar notes = $908,000.
and a ton of $100 dollar notes = $90,8000,000

I would take a ton of $100 denominated notes and then purchase gold.

In my first read, I thought the name of the French Secret Service was Leila Trabelsi, and I thought "Leave it to the French to have a gay name like Leila for their secret service". lol
