I was introduced to Ron Paul via YouTube , got hooked instantly and have become a donor for the first time in my life.
The power in seeing and hearing Ron Paul's passion, character and principle ooze through the screen is undeniable (and passing out DVD's to the older, internet-challenged population is great for this reason).
People have short attention spans. Cater to them with YouTube. YouTube (and the internet) is the great equalizer to mainstream media. Add to the fact that YouTube videos have viral mechanisms built-in (embed-able links, easy-to-share links), it's word-of-mouth on steroids.
Several simple tips...
Tip #1 (forums, websites, blogs):
End messages at other forums, websites, blogs and blog comments with a link to a relevant Ron Paul YouTube video.
Preface your YouTube links with a short, provocative teaser or lead-in to increase chances of people watching the clip. Jack up the curiosity. I sometimes include the approx. length of the video to not scare away people who might think it'll be a long, 10-minute video. Pick and tailor your videos to your audience. Examples:
"Ron Paul Calls for end to futile 'War on Drugs' in this 2-minute video clip"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8S8N2OG7sU
"This guy got me to register Republican for the first time in 20 years!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG2PUZoukfA
"Just a few minutes that can change the way you look at politics, forever"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG2PUZoukfA
"Hannity shakes hands with Ron Paul!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsXLf_w_0fs
Tip #2 (Highly effective, Do this NOW):
Add a YouTube link in your email signature (with short, strong lead-in sentence) - make it appeal to a broad audience. Add it in your forum profile signatures (in your account settings). Example:
"Just a few minutes that can change the way you look at politics, forever"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG2PUZoukfA
Tip #3:
Help create more YouTube videos (or create ideas for YouTube videographers) to keep Ron Paul fresh on YouTube and on people's minds.
Any thoughts? Ideas?
