Edited: Decided to change the name to Dr. Robert Paul For Texas Senate 2012 (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dr-Robert-Paul-for-Texas-Senate-2012/185656571458868). It looks like Ron will instead run for President, so I am enthusiastically supporting Dr. Robert Paul now!

Why? He can subpoena the Fed and control some of the rhetoric as the chair of that Subcommittee. He's worked all his life to get to where he is now. If he goes to the Senate, he throws all that power away.

I understand that, but unfortunately the Senate is filled with fat to many neo-cons. The only really good Senators we have right now are Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and (to a lesser extent) Jim DeMint.

And to a lesser extent Tom Coburn. Coburn is more non interventionist on foreign policy issues then Demint is.

Sorry, Ron will have more of an effect running for president. Let Medina or another liberty candidate run for Senate.

Yeah, Medina for Senator. RP for president!

The danger I see with Ron Paul going to the Senate is that he could seriously jeoperdize current power structure of Senate neocon trios like McCain-Graham-Lieberman in foreign and domestic policy issues, usually Senate overrides whatever House does. That is a major risk.

I can't stand Romney and Gingrich, and am very lukewarm to Palin. Why would you say that, are you confusing me for someone else?

I understand what the OP is saying, however, the OP needs to understand that Ron will actually have a greater impact with his chairman position than he would becoming a "freshman" senator. Sure I believe there would be some seniority he'd bring with him that would elevate him a little, but still. He's a chairman and needs to stay there while running for President. If we can get Ron to become the republican nominee he'll be the next president of the Unites States imo.

I think he's saying that supporters of those people would rather have Ron run for Senate than have him run for President.

I'm fine with either Ron, Robert, or Debra Medina. I just hope only one of those three runs. Can't split the liberty vote.

Using similar kind of criticism to shootdown an idea instead of discussing its pros and cons, one could also say that opposition to this Senate run proposal brought to you by supporters of McCain, Graham, Lieberman...?

Hell no. He is in a good place in Congress and he should focus entirely on his Presidential campaign.

No, they couldn't. Ron Paul would be directly running against Romney, Gingrich, Palin, Huckabee, etc if he ran for President. Paul would not be running against McCain, Graham or Lieberman for Senate, and thus would not be a direct threat to their political power.

Is there any way to get a hold of this guy? Through Campaign for Liberty or something?

The fact that he campaigned for Ron is a promising sign but I will support his Senate run provided he gets Ron Paul's endorsement.

But I have to say, he's got potential just based on this speech. If this is his speech when he is a doctor by profession, he can go places in politics if he has drive to serve in that feild.

This is ridiculous. Ron needs to run for President or stay in the House and oversee the Fed. Moving to the Senate would be stupid beyond belief.

The Senate is also more powerful. It also has far fewer voices of sanity, just Rand Paul, Mike Lee, and to a lesser extent, Jim DeMint and Tom Coburn. Having Ron Paul in there would be a tremendous help. Yes, there are minuses, but there are also many pluses.

Your heart I'm sure is in the right place but he just got some power and influence in the House and to run in the Senate is taking a chance; if he lost, he'd be out of politics, at least running for POTUS, he can retain his House seat.

And it will, if he decides against a Senate run. If he decides to run however, I hope you support him.
