I doubt it has as much to do with the gun used in the shooting as it does that Glocks are just popular (for some reason, lol, j/k Glock-owners). But seriously, you can walk into any gun store in my area and half of the display case is going to be full of Glocks. And if a first-time gun buyer is looking for something, they'll probably go with the $500 Glock over the $900 H&K. Glock is also the firearm used by probably every LE agency in my area.

So this isn't really as big a deal as the news agency is making it out to be.

It might be different if the guy had used a 9mm Makarov and you suddenly saw a spike in Makarov sales.

Or perhaps everybody is now worried about future regulations on Glocks. This is the United States Government we are talking about.

This. I've owned a Glock for many years and never had any impulse to purchase high capacity magazines for it, until now.

Glock Handgun Sales Surge After AZ Shooting Rampage

This topic was talked about on a blog I saw somewhere. One of the comments was "Uh oh!! No doubt the next tragedy will involve a Chevy Volt driving into a crowd of people!"
