Bradley says it’s time to move forward

Monday served as sort of a practice run, as Rep. Glen Bradley took the oath of office on the Franklin County Courthouse steps on Monday.

He’ll take the oath again on the day the General Assembly session begins on Jan. 26 in Raleigh.

On Monday, though, Bradley stood like Rocky Balboa atop the steps of the Franklin County Courthouse.

“This is a real victory for smaller, constitutional government,” Bradley said to family and supporters during the brisk ceremony on Monday morning.

“It’s time to make some changes as we move forward and get back to the constitution that this country was founded on.”

State Court of Appeals Judge Ann Maria Calabria performed the ceremony for Bradley, who beat out John May for the job to represent House District 49 and constituents in Franklin, Halifax and Nash counties.

Bradley, a constitutionalist, someone who believes in a strict reading of the constitution, believes in limited, small government.

He believes those ideals helped him get into office as a first-time politician

“The people of North Carolina and this country were angry with the way politicians were doing,” Bradley said. “They wanted a change from the status quo.

“Voters were angry in 2008 with Republicans,” Bradley said. “They were angry with Democrats in 2010.

“I want to get into office and take government back for the people.

“Look out Raleigh, here we come.”

Can't see it unless you have a description. But either way, that's awesome.
