Hmm, which means you are suspect if you don't "take sides".

That'll be the spin and talking point out of this.

Claim that you are neither right nor left and that both sides are rigged - therefore - you're a dangerous nutcase.

Jared Loughner’s friend says suspect ‘Did not watch TV … disliked the news’

By Chris Ariens on January 12, 2011 10:53 AM

This morning on “Good Morning America,” ABC’s Ashleigh Banfield sat down with Zach Osler, a high school friend of Jared Loughner, the suspect in the Tucson massacre.

Osler says his friend wasn’t shooting at people, “he was shooting at the world.” Regarding the high-pitched talk radio and cable news political rhetoric, Osler says his friend didn’t even watch the news.

He did not watch TV. He disliked the news. He didn’t listen to political radio. He didn’t take sides. He wasn’t on the left. He wasn’t on the right.

of course the media is going to say this...

they couldn't possibly have contributed!

nevermind that they put on the most depressing programming in history. who wouldn't feel like the world was going to come crashing down after watching one night's tv?

I'm pretty sure mainstream media ABSOLUTELY contributed, more than anything within the realm of external political stimuli, in fact. Mostly it was the MKULTRA drugs I think , tho. But seriously, why would you be so pissed at the system if the mainstream media was such a big con?

We had that Bedell guy who was a pot smoker and a huge fan of Murray Rothbard, and now we have this. Now i'm waiting for a patsy who watches PressTV and Russia Today.

How could one have a "fit" of apathy?

Wouldn't a "fit" mean that you cared about something?

;-)

Oh, believe me, that's coming. They will spin it to lay this at the feet of Libertarians, Minarchists and Anarchists of all stripes, I guaran-goddamn-tee you. It'll be 'Oh, see, this 'end the fed' nonsense that Ron Paul talks about is what motivated him.'

Absolutely. They'll also blame it on a free and "unregulated" media which they claim fans the flames of division and hatred (as if nobody in power ever got assassinated before Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck hit the airwaves). Right now, most freedom-friendly people believe that this event will serve as a pretext for more "gun control" (Victim Disarmament laws), but I think politicians know they've already played that hand to the point where people are already zealously guarding against it. What is far more likely, given all this hullabaloo over the supposedly recent "climate of hatred" is a resurgence in support for the Fairness Doctrine. They get that, and everything else (including gun control) falls into place.

Well he did list the Communist Manifesto on his facebook.....I mean really there is no way he is going to both like that book and be on the right. The guy is nuts. He has issues, and to try and say somehow his insane actions represent an entire swathe of 100+ million people is frankly ridiculous.

He also liked Mein Kampf.

I say we average them and call him a moderate.

Um please so now people on he right are Nazis?,,,, into the political gutter I see. The Nazis had a great deal in common with Marx...they only differed in methods for implementation.

God I tire of such ridiculous garbage....it's obvious that folks on the right are not down with Mein Kamf yet you try to slide that one in there. What are you after by fudging the truth man? The Nazis were the national socialist party after all.....it's a leftist creation. They favored protectionism and a strong state. Again lefty stuff if you want to nitpick at it. But yet I did not declare 150+ million people to be idolizers of Hitler you did.

But I see anyone right leaning...even people like Ron Paul who is considered by many to be extremehard right....is a Nazi. It's great we can have such intellectual discussions here. It's really wonderful.

I've never met a National Socialists who referred to them self as being "Right Wing." They are just as anti-market as regular Socialists.

Leftists were purged from the Nazi party in 1934.

They were still there, the Nazis and the Commies fought it out, but they were both big time collectivists. I mean they named themselves the National Socialist Party....you know...DING DING big clue.

Anyways you should tell Rand Paul that he is a Nazi. I bet he does not know...I didn't.

Kludge

Calm down. I implied the Nazis were right-wing, not that all the right-wing is of Nazis. Similar to how Communists are on the left, but not all leftists are Communists.

There's more than left vs. right. I agree they were both collectivists.

Stary Hickory

Nazis were not right wing though, they may have been less lefty than hardcore commies but they were still way left spectrum in the collectivist/progressive corner. Did you know some of our most fantastic overseas interventions were progressive endeavors?

The Nazis were racists and nationalists. But other than that they were socialists. Germany already had a long track record of being progressive/collectivist before Hitler even came to power.
