Obama considers an 'internet driver's license' be issued to Americans to aid in the war on cyber security. What's your opinion? Does having huge government get involved help or hurt the cause? Do you think this will have any effect on malware growth?

"... what about this unique ID we'll all be getting? Well, though details are still pretty scant, U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, speaking at an event at the Stanford Institute, stressed that the new system would not be akin to a national ID card, or a government controlled system, but that it would enhance security and reduce the need for people to memorize dozens of passwords online. Sorry, Locke, sounds like a national ID system to us."

There is no way I will ever use any internet ID. It would be an obvious invasion of our right to privacy.

Ive been studying up on this, and as far as I can tell something like a mandatory facebook page, giving you real name and some other info, set up by ISPs, is what they have in mind.

Everywhere you go, everything you say, its all public via this page.

Thats Zuckerberg's idea for facebook, to provide a 'drivers license for the internet', something to give a medium level of 'security' and ID you everywhere you go. Ive long got that vibe from Facebook Connect, something I never use.
