New Government Weapon Will Temporarily Blind Crowds
Tasers are so yesterday. The latest government gizmo is the "Dazer Lazer". Writes a friend embedded within the government:
We get all sorts of government trade journals delivered here.
I found this while leafing through the latest issue of GSN: Government Security News
(http://www.gsnmagazine.com/).
The "Dazer Laser" is an "ocular distraction device" that emits a non-damaging (yeah right - AF) laser pattern that temporarily blinds a person. Some of them will work up to 1.5 miles! The videos show quite clearly how they do their dirty work... I can imagine it won't be long before SWAT teams are mounting these to their RV's for crowd and riot control.

The video below advises:

In the event of crowd control...simply use the Dazer Lazer like a paint brush and daze the crowd across their faces.

The reflective properties of mirrors might yield some interesting results.

Yeah, these've been out for well over a year, now. I guess the newer methods are preferable to how riots used to be ended... live ammo, cavalry, dogs, gases, and whatnot.

why does this seem like some pet project of a congress persons sibling, offspring, or friend? So cheap! and yeah, what about mirrors? lol I bet one of these goes for like 20 grand is can be made for less than 50 bucks.

Pretty much anything is effective against disarmed peasants.

I am afraid so . That is what evil people would be counting on as well.

This is depressingly stupid. The person in the video at the start was "blinded" and then began waving their weapon around in a panic. Boy, this is going to be great if someone has someone else at knifepoint!
You could look at your feet or turn around, but then you wouldn't be a moronic actor in a police video. You could also already be blind, but I guess the cops didn't think of that one.
Fun for the whole family once the pulsing light not only blinds someone, but sends them into a seizure or twenty.

This'll give recluses yet another real reason to stay home and avoid society.

I though the same. Imagine someone has a gun. A police blinds him/her with the laser, he/she panics and starts shooting at random... Fun, fun, fun...

Yet another good use for that "instant on" welding shield.

Sunglasses tinted to the right wavelength of the beam would render the "dazer" useless.
Btw... dazer uses a Class IIIB green laser light (530 – 532nm) at up to 500mWatts
Also, this class of laser is rated to permanently blind someone within milliseconds. So, non-lethal but permanently impairing. Not exactly a weapon of choice.

So , that would mean no purchases of this thing ??

I thought for a split second that Dazer would have been a marriage of the words Death and Tazer, but regular tazers do that already...

Well I suppose our brave public servants will just have to fall back on the Taser Cannonade Battery:

Wish I could find one the first images of this weapon, it clearly was marked "THIS SIDE TOWARD ENEMY".
