How would you even KNOW who most of them are?

Would that not guarantee more shootings ? As the crazy would be emboldened as the only armed person ?

What an egotistical ass. What other special conditions would he like to enforce within his royal presence? Perhaps he would like a 1000 foot bubble where the temperature is always to his liking? Maybe a buffet with his favorite food always within a few steps? How about a 1000 foot circle of permanent sunshine to follow the royals?

I'm glad that we elected Rand to balance out some of the statists in the GOP.

It would be illegal for them to carry guns, silly. So how could they be armed? Hey, maybe they should pass a law making it illegal to kill a congressperson! Then this could never happen again.

umm, ok, first problem is that recognition of who these people are is not that widespread beyond those actively involved in or following politics. I watch c-span daily and probably couldn't identify more than about 30 of them) Where they are going to be and when would also have to be known. I guess this could be handled like the moving no-fly zone around the president that is announced via air traffic controllers and enforced by F-16's. Newspaper's, radio and TV stations could be mandated to spread this information. The possibility that a nut job would dream of doing the exact opposite is non-existent.

This is the exact same strategy used to protect students in schools from school shootings, and we all know that suicidal people with a death fixation always obey the law.

Oh, Wait...

In reality, such a strategy would only advertise a target, ensure that any law abiding CCW permit holder that could stop such a massacre will be unarmed and guarantee a high body count.

Yeah, Rand did an entire rally once where practically EVERYONE was armed. And it was on the lawn of the KY Capitol too! :D

i thought the purpose of the 2nd amendment was to secure the right of the individual to protect himself against oppresive tyrannical government and officials

Someone who is planing to kill someone will follow the gun law and not the murder law. This will stop them for sure - what an idiot.

I don't know if anyone has noticed this in the past, but it's a pretty good bet that armed federal officials practice their shooting skills periodically.
A lot of them use private gun ranges.
So in effect, this bill would not only make it impossible to even own guns unless you own a home with a 1000' property radius (thus ensuring that you never have federal officials for neighbors), it would also make it impossible ever to discharge them unless that home also had a berm or indoor range.

Also, given the ATF's track record, I would expect that if this bill was passed, they'd simply wait outside the gun store and arrest everyone who makes a purchase, given that they themselves are federal officials.

You lie! Firearms are only for hunting and home protection silly! Why would we mundanes ever need protection from our benevolent and wise leaders?

You know, if they want to make a law like this, they have to ensure that us law-abiding citizens are capable of complying with it. There could be a public official within 1,000 feet of me right now, and I wouldn't know it!

My suggestion is that we'd need to chip every Congressperson and public official who wants this protection, so we'll know where they are and can stay 1,000 feet away at all times.

ETA: In fact, since those public cameras make us safer, there should be cameras on them at all times too. It only stands to reason....

HAHA. Dude come on. Everyone with half a brain knows the 2nd amendment was designed to protect our right to go hunting.

I say we go above and beyond!

Let's make each and every Federal official wear a big F shirt on their clothes to make sure we know they are a Federal official.

Afterall, if they want to stand out and be so important over the rest of mundanes, shouldn't they have to wear something that indicates this?

I'm all for this law, assuming there is reciprocity.

No federal "official" (or their enforcers) may come within 1000 feet of me or my family.

There.

Why was this fucktard, King re-elected?

He was first elected by appealing to local area Irish constituents by supporting the Provo IRA.

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?275277-NY-Rep.-Peter-King-King-of-Hypocrisy

Apparently, violence and the killing of government officials is only OK with Rep. King when it happens in Belfast.

Excellent idea Amy! We have the technology to implement this. A 24x7 tracker implanted in each Federal official, and a public website (powered by Google) so that any person can locate them at any time. That way people will be able to comply with the law.

Is this picture taken after the shooters arrest? If yes, than Rand's "virtual diagnosis" is spot on. That guy's a psycho.
