If Ron is going to be declaring his candidacy for POTUS, wouldn't his travel and campaigning throughout 2011 take away from any serious work he'd otherwise achieve as Chairman of the Monetary Policy Subcommittee?

If you seriously think about it, re-engaging in the effort to audit the Fed would take a lot of resources, time, and grassroots efforts. If we're all busy volunteering our time and money for Ron's candidacy, do we put monetary policy issues in the backseat?

Discuss.

Not Really. A lot of the battle to audit the Federal Reserve this time round will take place outside of that subcommittee just like it did in the last Congress.

Do you remember how many hearings took place under Mel Watt when he was chairman of the Subcommittee in the last Congress? Not a lot from my memory. Probably less than five. Granted, Ron Paul actually cares about the Fed, our currency, and monetary policy so he will probably order more hearings but even if there are 10 or 15 hearings through the entire two years of Congress that's quite manageable even if he has to campaign for the presidency. At least I think.

A big tragedy is we do not have Alan Grayson this time to go around getting Democrats to co-sponsor the bill. Some like Kucinich will help, but Grayson really was the leading Democrat to go around fighting for this bill's passage.
