Well, that has to take the cake for one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of a politician doing. I don't care where he was, skipping your own swearing-in is pretty friggin' inexcusable.

These guys need to be at the top of the list to be booted out in 2012.

Well, you could look at it another way:

Technically, if you don't swear to uphold the U.S. Constitution and then do something unconstitutional, it's marginally better than putting a hand on the Bible, reciting the oath, and then turning right around and voting against the Constitution.

But yeah this is not a very wise thing to do as a politician, especially if the Constitution is going to make a come-back.
