It has been one day since John Boehner took the speakers gavel, and he is already weaseling his way out of the "pledges" the "tea party" made.

Washington (CNN) - Under fire for already backtracking on promises for more openness, House Speaker John Boehner admitted Thursday there are limits.
"I promised a more open process. I didn't promise that every single bill was going to be an open bill," said Boehner during his first news conference as the new House Speaker.

CNN TV just showed the video of him saying this, and immediately after he said this, he sneered and licked his lips.

Oh boy has the establishment pulled a fast one over the "angry" tea partiers. Hahaha.

If you don't have anything to hide Johnny then why can't we see what our servants are doing?

Though it's amazing how brazen politicians are when it comes to defying the will of the people, it's not surprising. I liken this to Democrats winning the legislative branch in 2006 (and executive branch in 2008) off an anti-war platform, only to find their elected officials financing war even further.

+win!

It is like he said "We swore to tell truth, but not all the time, but there was a time where we told some truth!"

Most tea-o-cons are happy that the old Bush era republicans are back in power. Now they can grow government with an R.

If we can get a tube of him licking his lips then this would be worthy of being promoted, no?

Let's see how this goes with C-SPAN. Nancy Pelosi even through all her "Transparency and Drain the Swamp" bullshit, denied C-SPAN more cameras and coverage.

Well, Brian Lamb who heads C-SPAN just confronted Boehner on the same. Let's see if things change since he was crying about the secrecy of the Democratic/Limousine Liberal processes.

C-SPAN asks Boehner for more cameras (http://www.politico.com/blogs/onmedia/1110/CSPAN_asks_Boehner_for_more_cameras.html#)

Last week, C-SPAN asked John Boehner the same question it has asked previous incoming House speakers: Can we install some more cameras inside the House so we can record reaction shots and make the cable network’s House coverage, in CEO Brian Lamb’s words, “a journalistic product”?
Right now, House floor debates are captured by House cameras only, and reaction shots and wide shots of the chamber are not allowed. Rules do allow C-SPAN to use its own cameras to capture committee hearings, press conferences, speeches and the like.
The query took the form of a letter (http://www.c-span.org/pdf/CSPANLettertoBoehnerNov2010.pdf), dated Nov. 9, from Lamb.

C-SPAN
A PUBLIC SERVICE CREATED
BY AMERICA'S CABLE
TELEVISION COMPANIES

November 9, 2010
The Honorable John Boehner
Republican Leader
United States House of Representatives

Brian P. Lamb
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

RE: Renewing C-SPA 's request to add its cameras to House chamber for coverage offloor
debates

Dear Representative Boehner:

In January, you sent C-SPAN a letter supporting our request for televised access to the health
care negotiation in which you wrote, "Every i sue of national import should be debated by the
people' elected representatives in full public view." You further wrote, "Republicans have
listened to the American people and are committed to making Congress more accountable to the
people it serv s,"
Currently, House floor debates are not in full public view because private news media cameras
are still not permitted in the House chamber. Rules established when the House installed its TV
camera in 1979 restrict congressional camera operators to head-on shots of members at the
podium and committee tables and, they are prohibited from taking reaction shots or shots of the
chamber, I having viewers with a less-than-complete view of your debate .
In the spirit we are writing to you to renew a request we made to Speakers Gingrich and Pelosi
as they assumed office-to allow House floor proceedings to also be covered by C-SPAN
cameras.

We do not propose to change the current House recording system or its output. C-SPAN's
request is for the addition of a few small robotically-operated cameras in the House chamber.
When mix d into the existing House production, shots from these cameras would allow us to
produce a second feed of House floor debate that is a journalistic product.
As th only network that uses the complete daily feed of House debates, C-SPAN proposes to
take the lead on this project and assume the costs for its installation and operation. This new feed
would form the basis of C-SPAN's live coverage of the House for our TV networks. We will
make this feed widely available on the web; including archiving the complete feed in C-SPAN's
online video library and streaming it live on our website. Importantly, we do not intend for this
to be an exclusive C-SPAN product - we' ll also make this feed readily available to accredited
news media following established Hill pool practices.

400 North Capitol St. NW
Suite 650
Washington. DC 20001

We hope you will give serious consideration to our request and agree to take this important and
symbolic step to fully open the people's House to the American public. We' ll close by again
quoting your letter to us: "Since the first New England town meetings of the colonial era, open
government has been a hallmark of American democracy." We look forward to working with
you.

Sincerely,
Brian P. Lamb

Th Honorable Steny Hoyer, Democratic Leader
The Honorable Eric Cantor, Republican Whip
The Honorable Greg Walden, Republican Transition Chair

What makes you think Boner is going to be even better? Give the Republican establishment the white house and they'll be worse than Obama the same way Obama was worse than Bush.

Did you tell him that he supported No Child Left Behind? What about his support for Bush's Prescription Drug Plan?

Here is the link to the video, I tried to embed but it would not work.

The "sneer and lick" that drove me up the wall was on the NEXT question posed by the CNN reporter, where they said that Boehner was now trying to get out of his pledge to cut the deficit by $100 billion this year, and he gives a shady answer and sneers and licks

Go to 4:12 in the video and watch until 6:24

Maybe someone can Tube this portion of the video? I'm not sure how. . .
