So, New Years is upon us, which means that the police will set up unconstitutional DUI checkpoints. I don't intend to drive drunk, but at the same time, I'd like to have a good idea of how to respond, in case I end up going through a checkpoint or even if I get pulled over. Is there a way to diplomatically deal with the situation while at the same time denying unlawful (or rather, what should be unlawful...) searches?

In any case, I just thought that this would be a good thread for New Years Eve.

be polite, act like an adult in the room, ask to be in front of the camera, state clearly you do not consent to any search or blood test. They will do what they want but it cannot be used in court.

Hand them your Republic State Travel Warrant and they won't have jurisdiction to bother you.

Or keep being a subject/slave/property of the United States (government) and keep asking why they are always bothering you.

there was a thread on the forums that had a video in it showing just how one guy dealt with a checkpoint.

basically he kept asking "am I being detained?" (to which they answered no) then "am I free to go?" and he just kept repeating that over and over and over -- they finally just let him go on. (it was slowing down the checkpoint)

if anyone can point out the thread it would be appreciated.

oh, and whatever you do, don't roll the window down very far, just a 1 or 2" crack!

I will be cooperating to the point of handing them my license and registration, but then I will also hand them a copy of the US Constitution and let them know that they apparently need it far worse than I do, since they are sworn to uphold it but seem to have forgotten that part. But then, I can't make as big a stink as you guys can right now. ;)

Au contraire Gunny. According to general minarchist doctrine, elected officials are held to a higher standard than citizens. It is entrusted upon you, to fulfill your oath, and your duty of feilty to the document. As Patrick Henry surely demonstrated the duty and courage to fulfill the ultimate and only political end -- liberty -- it is incumbent upon you to do the same. You now have a bigger microphone and public eye to promote these values, I say use it to its full potential.

I'd like to see evidence of this before using myself as a guinea pig. If nothing else, this travel warrant would overload their brains and they'd snap into a violent rage.

Until I see concrete evidence of a Travel Warrant being used in the manner described, I'll consider it mere wishful thinking.

Just avoid it. They cannot funnel people through the checkpoints. The Court has ruled that if people wish to make a turn to avoid it, they must be allowed to do so. This has nothing to so with sobriety... this has to do with seizure.

Let's make it multiple choice. Fill in the blank:

PATRIOTS ___________ TYRANTS.

A) Obey
B) Talk to
C) Hide from
D) Annihilate (with extreme prejudice)

Here are some visual aids to help with your response:

I was watching people going into times square on new years eve and the cops patting them down - all 1.5 million of them. Got me thinking that it's too bad someone hadn't left some flare guns, a starter pistol and some M-60's and other fireworks INSIDE the secured area before it was locked down and let um rip after passing through the checkpoint. That would really show everyone what a bunch of BS and a waste of time all this security was. People were backed up for blocks and waited 6-7 hrs for their pat down just so they could be there. :(
