"[ACU has] gone libertarian, that's their focus," said Mat Staver, president of Liberty Counsel, a public interest law firm. "Libertarianism is right on the economy, often wrong on national defense, and doesn't care about social conservatism. Libertarians only respect one leg of the Reagan revolution, and you can't stand for long on one leg."

Let's keep the trend going. Order your ticket for CPAC today. (http://www.campaignforliberty.com/event/cpac2011.php)

The reason why CPAC is becoming more libertarian is because so many young people attend CPAC, and most young people lean to the libertarian side. It's not a wise move on the part of conservatives and Republicans to alienate young people.

They started this last year. Their real reason is that GOProud was allowed to be a sponsor and have a booth, and that Ron Paul types were fine with that (and booed that guy off stage who tried to make a huge deal of it, while people were waiting for Ron's speech.) However, it gives them 'cover' when Ron wins....'oh, you know CPAC is full of libertarians.... it doesn't count...

How do you infiltrate a group which simply moves to another table to get away from you when you start talking?

Funny, I'd rather boycott CPAC because of the social conservatives and war hawks.

remove them from office no matter who they are running against, sooner or late they have no table to go to!!
odds are the groups boycotting cpac were really never conservatives in the first place!! so we must be doing something right.

The three legs of conservatism is dead, it worked for Reagan and after that, the roof started leaking.

They'll be sobbing in their beers at the "We don't like gays" conference. Although I'm sure they'll name it something less dumb.

The NeoCons still haven't learned their lesson from their beat down in 2008. Foreign policy was one of the reasons why they lost, yet they are still pushing the "National Defense" card, aka illegal wars.

Like I said before, establishment "tea-o-con" party Republicans are there to keep things the same, not change anything.

Yeah. There's nothing wrong with being a "national defense conservative," but true national defense is about securing our borders and protecting our own country. We need to get conservatives to quit believing that nation building actually improves our national defense.

I totally agree, I was just stating how "Conservatives" aka war mongers, love to use National Defense in order to justify their foreign intervention/illegal unconstitutional wars. Its the most outplayed card used by these partisan hacks, and still after 2 years since their huge defeat, they are still pushing the BS "National Defense" for more wars.

Uh...bad idea. CPAC is free press and publicity and there are many libertarian voices there who would be happy to have our support. All of the major figures are there, Ron Paul, Rand will probably be there, Tom Woods, The Judge, etc. If they want to back out of it, fine, but we'll gladly steal the show.

I hope they boycott CPAC, it'll make it much easier for us to win!

Besides, someone needs to share the following Ronald Reagan quote with them:
"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism... The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is."

Of course this is the exact opposite of a social conservative. They are pro government interference, pro centralized authority and anti individual freedom.

Oh God (pun intended), not that. That was such a painful debate to watch. RP getting funny looks for saying things like gays have rights and that the federal government shouldn't legislate porno flicks in hotel rooms.

You don't, you just take up all the tables with talkers and keep them moving down one down one until they just take their ball and go home.

I've seen several bloggers pushing the decision of the VVS in selecting Pence as legitimate lately as they discount CPAC.

that's because the raegan table is so small and frail that one leg is enough to support it

Because they are irrelevant mattering not one iota. McCain didn't attend and he still won the nomination.
