Ron Paul took this nice 4 1/2-year-old drop-tine 12 point while hunting in the thick brush near his home in Venetia, Pa. Paul says Pennsylvania's new point regs seem to be working, providing bigger bucks. He hasn't hunted for over 12 years, he said, and took this deer after only 30 minutes in the woods on the third day of rifle season.

Send in your deer photo. E-mail the image in .jpeg or .png format to deerphotos.pg@gmail.com. Width less than 500 pixels or 6.9 inches. Include names of everyone pictured, when and where the photo was taken, who took the photo and optional information about the hunt.

Oh, not the same guy. :p

BATH, N.H. -- It is the first day for deer hunting season in New Hampshire (for those not using arrows) and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul marked the day with a stop at a gun store in Whitefield.

On the way to the next event in the North Country, he made an impromptu stop at a general store in Bath to get a closer look at a doe shot and killed this morning by his New Hampshire campaign manager's wife .

For the cameras, Dr. Paul checked for a pulse before declaring the deer officially dead.

Do you have any idea what a mess the east coast has in regards to deer overpopulation? Harvesting only bucks doesn't have any effect on population levels as only 1 buck is necessary to breed with up to 100 females each year. So, to manage the populations, it is necessary to have doe harvests. Indeed, most states with Whitetail population problems have instituted a policy of allowing for multiple doe tags for every one buck tag.

In my state, we don't have a population problem, and we don't want one, which is why in many hunting areas we allow blackpowder and archery hunters an either sex tag, and some modern rifle hunters can get a special lottery permit for females.

Personally, I will harvest a doe over a buck any day, as the meat tastes better, and that is one of the many reasons I hunt blackpowder.

Even worse is in the suburbs. here in NJ, which is so highly populated everything is suburb and you can't hunt in them. We have a crapload of deer, hell I've seen up to 20 of them in the middle of the road in front of my house; just standing around playing street hockey. They are completely unchecked and unafraid.

Does it seem there are more does than bucks? I see does around almost every day. Bucks aren't exactly rare, but I only see them once a month or so.
