I doubt that will happen. He pointed out the reason himself: They have to pack minorities into that southern district.

Yeah. I just keep looking to see what is going on with the new seats they are due to get in Texas. They already messed with his district years ago. Mind you, I think Ron should have higher office, but it damned well should be his choice.

It doesn't matter what they do in the legislature in TX. There are getting 4 new US Reps. Ron Paul is fine whatever his district ends up looking like.

Yeah, he is surrounded by solid GOP territory. The district would have to be so seriously gerrymandered that it would be obvious to everyone involved that they were attempting to throw Paul out of office.

It's not 2007 anymore. You don't look like a fiscal conservative if you try to marginalize Ron Paul now.

Pena is a representative to the Texas House, elected as a Democrat in 2002. Just this month he switched his affiliation to the Republican Party. Republicans have super-majority control of the House and as a result, will easily control redistricting. Pena will not be much of a factor. The latest scuttlebutt is that two of the new seats will be given to minorities.
