Awake (http://www.ronpaulforums.com/member.php?19850-awake) has come through again for RPF and made an awesome logo.

Here is another version of the one at the top.

He came up with the blue one and I changed a few colors for our current one. I'd really like to make another theme so that we can use the blue one too.

I think the letters for "Ron Paul Forums" should be a color other than white. It's hard to read. "Liberty Forest" draws the eye and doesn't let go.

I'm not a fan of going with caps. Between that and the shading, and the obviously more mature tree, it seems like it's trying to say that things are bigger now. That's not always a good thing. I think Craig's List keeps the same old crappy circa 1996 web design for a reason: to broadcast that something real is going on there. Other huge sites also KISS, like Google.

Showing my dorkiness... the change reminds me of back in the day when I used to play Magic The Gathering, and how the previously abstract/ impressionist/ cartoon styled art got all clean and hyper-realistic and lost its charm (right about the time it really exploded).

Not to pee in your Wheaties or anything, but I reacted negatively. I'm sure most people will like it.

Yeah, I bet you could light the bottom with a 'warm glow" and remove much of that darkening effect, especially if you have acess to the tree layer by itself and the striped background.

I like the old one. It seems more welcoming and looks more professional - polished. As some one else said here the new one looks like a storm is brewing. When I look at it I keep waiting to see lightening and raven fly towards me.

To give some criticism I think the stroke is a little thick and the letters in the roots are a little hard to read. Maybe a glow in that area to bring them out a little more?

Its an improvement, but it could be improved upon. The blacks and whites are not contrasting, specifically the name "Ron Paul" and the black and white behind it. Mess with the font color some more, or the color of the tree and the light it is emitting.

my personal critique is that the blue one has the contrast the "grey" is lacking( in the sun beams)...it adds a dimensionality to the composition. one *could* play with the hue of the beams to help the tree, especially the trunk & roots, PoP a bit more.
the font is comfortable and i like the all CAPS
add some warm to play with the cool and show us how it looks

However i can totally see it on the back of a shirt/ hoodie as is!

I like it but I think it should be 'wider' to cover more of the top of the web page. maybe separate the letters more, make everything a little bigger as well. Definitely like the look/style of the tree better - with the roots, etc.

I really like the new one since you changed the writing to blue and the tree's a bit bigger. I think it has more of an edge to it. Sorta brooding, dark, formidable. Like most of the personalities here on RPF.
