Oh I hate to be the one to rain on the parade, but I simply had to add that I'm glad the cop didn't arrive a moment later and think to go to the house first. He might have thought she was more a thief than a defending party.

Her behavior, though, was spot-on and great under pressure. She carefully picked her way to a defendable position, called for help, and stayed put until the danger was passed. (I'm sure some wouldn't call for help, no, but the kid's 11 :p )
