Metrorail police officers plan to randomly select bags before passengers enter subway stations and they will swab them or have an explosives-sniffing dog check the bags, according to the Metro police.

There is "no specific or credible threat to the system at this time," Metro said in a statement. Passengers who refuse to have their bags inspected will be denied entry into the subway system.

Hell, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner. It's been going on here in New York for years....

I always enjoy these "searches," the person opens your bag while looking in between you and it, and rubs a stick around the outside, and then says "move along," and I wonder what exactly they planned on catching. Unless the person was stupid enough to put a bomb right on top or along the sides, they'd catch approximately no one.

Yeah, if they "randomly" do this to me when I'm up there next month, you might end up seeing my face on the news after asserting the 4th Amendment; ESPECIALLY in DC.:mad::mad:

Of all places, constitutional abuses from goons operating on behalf of the District of Columbia should be brought to court. Simply cite the 4th amendment and refuse to allow the search. Take names and sue the living life out of these hacks...

Sure, spend money on cops to violate the 4th amendment instead of updating a 40 year old system.
Makes a lot of sense to me.
