Two observations: (1) I'm just shocked that some Republicans actually think that Palin is a conservative, and (2) I'm really shocked that someone would use this attack to defend her:

From Nelson Rockefeller sometime in the 1964 election cycle:

“We have to destroy Barry Goldwater as a member of the human race.”

Any bets the GOP establishment will use the same tactics on Sarah Palin in 2011 and 2012.Paul's positions are 99% aligned with Goldwater! Since this was of all adults, I imagine that it captures the independent voters that are fiscally conservative, socially moderate, and I'm not surprised that Palin gets cleaned.

Palin is not viable but she could win the nomination on celebrity alone

then she will be defeated by Nobama

Actually, we can't really lose in 2012 because if they nominate anyone other than Ron Nobama wins and Rand is waiting next in line

If Ron actually got the nomination (despite the whole apparatus being squarely against him), he would go on to intellectually destroy Nobama on stage.
It would be so apparent that Nobama can't do anything but blow smoke up our asses, that the charge of racism would come immediately afterward.
From then on, the whole campaign would be about how RP is a racist, they'd dig up the newsletters, and Nobama wins by default.
Replay of 1964, where the real libertarian gets smeared to death, and four election cycles later the watered-down, 5% solution version of him gets elected in a landslide.

The only way it won't happen is if the administration keeps crossing lines with the media, like they did in the Gulf, and like they're doing with Assange, and then the media won't be quite so willing to do Nobama's dirty work.

Either that, or secession starts happening in 8 years.

except this time we have Rand Paul at 95% and don't have to settle for 5%.
