A pill to prevent PTSD? It could happen, study hints

Research in mice finds treatment that may protect against the condition

spending millions investigating the cure for PTSD when the simplest and most obvious one would be STOP SENDING YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN INTO HELL FOR YOUR OWN PROFIT

but there's no money in that now is there!?

The two drugs are related to ketamine and increase erection frequency.

So apparently the cure for shell-shock is to get the victim high and horny asap after the trauma. Makes sense, but it will probably end up with abuse potential and blocked by FDA/DEA.

I have a hard time imagining this can work. I see why they would try . How do you get mice in the same condition as a human being who just narrowly survives a roadside bomb ?

One study put them in a confined place and gave them repeated “shocks” (no pun intended).

It’s actually true; you can easily traumatize an animal (maybe more easily, since any species lower in the food chain – and smaller – is gonna be more afraid of more things; more ruled by fear). Many animals have amazing memories when it comes to painful experiences. I have had pet frogs, who after one single traumatic experience (moving them to a different cage, or catching them after an escape), were NEVER even close to the same for the rest of their lives. Domestic rats are similar, even if they only see you “hurting” one of their buddies – they are your enemy for life (never forget).
