The Department of Education has determined that Va Tech violated the Clery Act, but students around the nation want more than a slap on the wrist of college administrations — they want the right to self-defense. By James Heiser

It really was pissy and childish of VT to claim they were "timely". Fail to report all the rapes, robberies, and beatings in a "timely" manner you want, there's no such thing as a rape rampage, and the damage has been done. Double homicide with the killer unknown and free should immediately be at the top, above bomb threats and pop stars on campus.

I don't like when people use events as platforms, but it goes to show you their logical value, this mass killing is argued as both reason to further restrict guns, and to further allow them. Reason should always prevail sans emotion. Every individual should not be denied their right to self defense by the means they choose.

p.s. this group can kiss my California ass. I'll never be approved a CCW in this state. I'd join the "Students for perpetually brandishing big ass rifles and scary evil handguns Organization" or bust.

If everyone in this country carried a gun, how far does anyone think that the guy that went wacko would get before being taken down? How many less women would be raped (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMtZfW2z9dw&feature=fvw)? How many less armed robberies would occur? What is the #1 thing that criminals (read: real criminals, not someone that failed to comply with paperwork and red tape) fear? Besides Naked Grandma (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqDGK_UjfFI)? Someone that has a gun.

(yeah, the two links are supposed to be kind of funny...)

I hear ya. Had a robbery / murder a few doors away from me earlier this week. The shots weren't large enough caliber or close enough to get my immediate attention of a threat (it was 2:30 in the morning), just enough for me to grab a rifle as a precaution.

And some people wonder why I almost always have a weapon within reach ........

Being an alum of Virginia Tech, I can tell you that there is a substantial SCCC group on the campus now, where there was not before 2007. Haven't checked how they are doing recently (I used to know one of the guys who ran it, but he's now gone).
