Warren Buffett: 'Pleasure' to Write $50M Check for Nuclear Fuel Bank (http://www.cnbc.com/id/40506462)

CNBC News
4 Dec 2010

G. Edward Griffin:

Warren Buffet says it will be a "pleasure" to donate $50 million to the UN to create a nuclear "fuel" bank. The purpose is to place all nuclear resources under control of the UN. [The theory is that this will make the world safer but, considering the low ethical level of international despots and dictators that comprise leadership at the UN, just the opposite will be the result.]

I'm beginning to come around to the liberal position on taxing the rich.
In cases like this, a tax rate of 99.5% might be a good starting point.:p

Is Ron Paul Forums becoming Leftist and anti-Ron Paul?

I think he's being sarcastic, Islamophobe.

As for Buffet? Sucker. They'll be back next week, asking for more. And isn't this treason - working to undermine the authority and sovereignty of the United States?

Besides, those radical "Islamic" organizations actually follow Karl Marx (not the Koran), but they hide behind the cover of Islam.

Thankfully REAL Muslims are extremely well grounded people and believe strongly in free markets, small governement and individuality.

I am with you in that all factions of power in the world (including the major religions, your case mentioning Hamas etc) have VERY bad seeds that must be watched over and stopped from causing societal steps backwards- but so long as you know that muslims in general are normal, good people- then things will be ok.

Most Muslims are not irrational, destructive fundamentalists. Real scripture readers...both Christians and Muslims, know that there are elements of human truth in their Holy books and a PLETHORA of allegories and symbolic stories meant to TEACH.

Firstly, if the man is investing his own money, it's hardly newsworthy.

The problem I have with this "fuel bank" (besides the UN having developed into a huge Epic Fail over the years) is that countries who are likely to be currently exercising their own sovereignty and thumbing their noses at the United Nations, and the international community at large, will be unlikely to capitulate and except fuel from the UN in the first place.

Yet another "sounds good, feels good" sort of policy, IMHO, that won't actually address any concerns.

All this noise about radical Muslim is just noise from the neocon right. They're still trying to maintain support for their failed foreign policy. And in doing so, they've totally screwed the GOP.

According to an article in this months American Conservative magazine..."80% of US Muslims backed GW Bush in 2000. By 2004.....the president had lost half his support." Paraphrasing the rest here - by 2010, 85% of the Muslims backed Obama, while the American Jews also overwhelmingly supported Obama.

Pandering to the church of the perpetually fearful and to those who want Jesus to come back ASAP makes for lousy conservative politics, not to mention the worst foreign policy we've ever had.

A private businessman investing his own funds in an organization has nothing to do with what level of participation we have with the UN.

I'm saying the United Nations is radically growing in power and the United States needs to get out of the United Nations.

Ron Paul agrees, in fact, he wrote the Bill.

I agree that the UN has issues.

I do not agree that we should just leave, however.

One doesn't fix a leaky roof by burning the house down.

If we leave the UN, an institution the US was instrumental in founding, we leave it for opposing global powers to run as they see fit, including Muslim nations whose ideology runs counter to our own.

This post is utter fail. You shouldn't continue a mistake just because some one else might come along and try to make the same mistake. For Pete's sake, leave a note on the door : we tried, it won't work.

Leaky roof ? Rather, one shouldn't try to patch a leaky roof while the house is burning down - although hey, if any one wants to try, giver'.

This is patently ridiculous; the UN doesn't have the competence to maintain all nuclear fuel, nor should it.

The more nuclear powers there are in the world, the less likely there is to be a nuclear war---the less nuclear powers, the more likely that there will be a war...if just the UN has control of nuclear fuel.....well, I'd hope that doesn't entail weapons, for...well, obvious reasons.

Look, IMHO, short of some "global village" nonsense the liberals like, the UN, or an organization like the UN, is absolutely vital in maintaining international dialogue and some level of cooperation.

Eliminating the UN, or withdrawing from the same, would lead to a break down of communications across the globe.
