Is the Government's 'Newborn Screening' Constitutional?
Texas Sued for Selling Baby Blood to Pharmaceutical Companies and the Military.

The latest scandal involving government’s unauthorized data-basing and testing of our blood inspired this post. Texas article below.

All 50 United States’ law mandate that babies get “Newborn Screening”; a test in which the baby’s blood is tested for genetic disorders and disease. This mandate originated from Federal lobbying and was rolled out in all States with coordination from the Federal Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

The test finds about 3000 cases of treatable disorders every year, out of about 4 million births. While to many people finding out about these cases makes the testing worthwhile, many more people worry about the unnecessary treatment of the many false positives and the damage they cause.

From our freedom perspective the main questions are; Under what authority is this testing mandatory? Is it constitutional? And, Do we trust the Government with our kids blood?

We will explore the first questions in the future. The answer to the last question is a definitive, no! History has taught us that government agents have little regard for our rights and privacy. The CDC itself found out that 41% of States would share the Newborn Screening blood for experiments:...
