I'm just going to put this out there... I think Ron's losing his hearing. He's asking people to repeat questions at a growing rate.

If true, that's going to be a problem in the presidential debates. Definitely going to give ammo to the "he's too old" crowd.

I'm not sure if his hearing is going. If it was, he would ask them to turn up the volume to start rather than saying that a signal faded out or cut off abruptly.

I think his hearing is going in a common fashion, where it isn't so much you can't HEAR, but you find it harder to distinguish a voice from the background noise. If it is quiet, there is no issue. I noticed it during the 2008 debates, when there was audience noise while questions were being asked.

He is the age he is. If we had a comparable candidate who was younger, we might consider him or her, and Ron, frankly, might not even feel the need to run. But we don't, do we? Ron is currently unparalleled.

He may end up busy with his committee however.

I did see a theory about his committee appointment that pissed me off, even though it likely isn't true: that Ron was given the committee in part so he won't run, and when it's too late they'd find a pretext to yank it. I think it was just someone's anxieties speaking, but whenever I think of Ron not running because of the committee, now, it is in the back of my mind.

That was the Wiegel article. I could care less of why the position was given, but I think it makes it more likely that Paul will run since he is bound to get a lot more exposure over the next year grilling Bernanke & Co.
