Exclusive: Sarah Palin Under Cyber-Attack from Wikileaks Supporters in 'Operation Payback' (http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2010/12/exclusive-palin-under-cyber-attack-from-wikileaks-supporters-in-operation-payback.html)

ABC News
December 08, 2010

The website and personal credit card information of former Gov. Sarah Palin were cyber-attacked today by Wikileaks supporters, the 2008 GOP vice presidential candidate tells ABC News in an email.

Hackers in London apparently affiliated with “Operation Payback” – a group of supporters of Julian Assange and Wikileaks – have tried to shut down SarahPac and have disrupted Sarah and Todd Palin’s personal credit card accounts.

“No wonder others are keeping silent about Assange's antics,” Palin emailed. “This is what happens when you exercise the First Amendment and speak against his sick, un-American espionage efforts.”

ZH: Sarah Palin Claims Site Hacked, Credit Card Details Stolen, But Doubts Surface This Is Merely Attempt At Attention Whoring (http://www.zerohedge.com/article/sarah-palin-claims-site-hacked-credit-card-details-stolen-doubts-surface-merely-attempt-atte)

Operation Payback has supposedly taken its latest victim: Sarah Palin, who previously called for the execution of Assange, has had her site hacked, and her credit card details taken. Her take: "No wonder others are keeping silent about Assange's antics,” Palin emailed. “This is what happens when you exercise the First Amendment and speak against his sick, un-American espionage efforts." Frankly, we very much doubt anyone, let alone a sophisticated hacker network, would bother with someone of Palin's "intellectual" capacity and significance, and would actively demand that she produce her serverlog (assuming she knows what this is) to confirm the fact, as many have already voice a suspicion this is just the latest attempt of the vice presidential candidate pathetically whoring for yet more media attention.

Computerworld - The main Web site of MasterCard was knocked offline today in a large distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack apparently launched in retaliation for the credit card company's decision this week to cut off services to WikiLeaks.

Similar, much smaller attacks have also been detected against numerous other sites, including those belonging to U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-Conn.) and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, according to security researcher Sean-Paul Correll of PandaLabs. Correll has been maintaining a frequently updated blog on the unfolding attacks.

What worries me is that anyone at all can hack or screw with anything, and it will be blamed on Wikileaks sympathizers. If something happens, it WILL come back to Wikileaks. Rather unfortunate...

DDoS attacks just give them more excuses to do it, however. It's the wrong kind of response. It doesn't generate much sympathy from anyone, really.

Who's looking for sympathy? At this point, we have almost everyone we're going to get, and they don't need an excuse, if you haven't noticed--they'll manufacture one. Never let a crisis go to waste...did you miss all that bullshit with the TSA having full reign to grope everyone from your grandma to your infant? Make a stand or get out of the way.

And anyways, no matter what happens, the MSM will report only what they're told to, and Assange will go to prison, maybe be executed--without a fucking whimper. Meanwhile, we'll continue to ramp up the wars, Cheney, Bush, Obama et al will continue to get away with criminal behavior that gets people killed, and destroys people's lives, the economy, our civil liberties, etc etc.

Is that what you'd prefer?

The argument that this will "bring it on faster" is asinine...good--if they stop slowly turning up the heat on the frog, maybe it'll make a few of 'em jump.

Calling for a boycott and/or picketing is one thing, destruction of private property and/or the systematic attempt to cost a company revenue through destruction of information and/or the interuption of services is, IMHO, absolutely uncalled for and totally criminal in every sence of the word.

Thanks to this criminal organization, Wikileaks has lost my support, and I'm sure many other people's as well.

So the gov't has lost your support as well? They're the ones squelching free speech, and Palin/Lieberman/Gingrich and the like are calling for Assange's assassination for speaking up about what the gov't is doing.

Do you really support free speech, or only when the gov't grants you the privilege of it? Because you do realize that this came about because they're trying to make sure that none of us know what's going on, right? The press is toast in this country and just a propaganda wing of the gov't.

So do you continue to allow them to get away with it, or do you do something? Boycotts don't work for shit.

Quite a quandary.

Firstly, doesn't matter if Assange and Wikileaks endorses, supports, or even ignores Anon. They could pretty much come out and completely condem Anon with little effect.

Not only will the media spin it to make it appear they do, people tend to judge others by the company they keep, so to speak, unwanted company or not.

And I am not mad at Caribou Babie, just concerned that she still retains some popularity among certain demographics, perhaps enough to ruin a perfectly good candidate's chances if the GOP insists she run for office again on their ticket.

JUNEAU, Alaska -- The website of Sarah Palin's political action committee came under cyberattack from supporters of Wikileaks and its founder, Julian Assange, the former Alaska governor said Wednesday.

The 2008 vice presidential candidate told ABC News it's an example of what happens "when you exercise the First Amendment and speak against his sick, un-American espionage efforts."

In a posting on the social networking site Facebook last week, Palin called Assange "an anti-American operative with blood on his hands." She questioned why he wasn't "pursued with the same urgency we pursue al-Qaida and Taliban leaders."

Rebecca Mansour, a SarahPAC aide, told The Associated Press that staff moved quickly to secure the website and no data was compromised.

Hackers acting under the label "Operation Payback" claimed responsibility for problems Wednesday at the websites for MasterCard and Visa, which stopped processing donations to Wikileaks after it released secret U.S. diplomatic cables.

Mansour also said Palin's husband, Todd, had been contacted by Visa and was told "a company in London was trying to access his account this afternoon for verification."

Visa advised him to quickly close his credit card accounts, and he did, Mansour said.

The 'papers had nothing to do with my political ideology.

And who, pray tell, did Rosa Parks attack physically? Which company did she attack? How many people's private information was exposed to comprimise by Rosa Park's actions?

It is very difficult to carry on a decent debate when people permit themselves to leap of the cliff of rationality into the realms of political partisanship inspired fantasy
