Harmelin v. Michigan
This poor chap was sent to prison for life without the possibility of parole for the possession of 672 grams of cocaine. All I can say is that I am ashamed to be in a country where peoples' taxpayer money is going to fund the effective destruction of their own rights and liberties, and nothing is being done about it (with the exception of us liberty-lovin' folk, of course ;) ). People who trade their liberty for safety will lose both and deserve neither, Ben Franklin once said, and it's already happening. Then, at the same time, we let off murders and rapists with a slap on the wrist. This is sickening. All I know is that we need to do something in order to stop this authoritarian movement, and we need to start right now.
