a worldwide money bomb- straight to his account. if the word could get out, he could easily raise a few million in a day.
flattr would see a mighty profit for being so kind as to lend their services.

definitely an awesome idea. Let's make a site for it, and see what happens.

I was thinking wikibomb.com, but it's already taken.

Yeah, we need to support him. He has put himself on the front lines, fighting against totalitarianism, and we need to show up at this battle.

We can hold goal post money bombs and can squirt cash injections at certain times to wherever money needs to be directed.

WikiLeaks is basically a collection of donors funds. We can keep it in our bank accounts and not allow people like paypal to freeze it.

Call it WikiGeyser.com? I registered the domain...

Just an idea...

It's going to take a hell of an effort...alot of social media and spaming
But if anyone is up to fundraising it's us.

This won't be the first time being the catalyst for change

However there remains one source of funding so far untouched, and that is a small startup, Flattr, created by Peter Sunde, co-founder of torrent site Pirate Bay,

I'm guessing this guy isn't going to knuckle under to pressure from the US government.

Good point.

Anyone have time to create a site?

I imagine we would set the geyser off next Monday. Talk to wiki leaks directors and ask if flattr is the best place to send donations. Maybe there is a better way?

I'd definitely chip into a Wikileaks moneybomb. Only problem is...didn't PayPal cut them off? I believe even ChipIn.com works in conjunction with PayPal.

How else could we organize actually sending the money to them?

I believe flattr works by giving them real currencies in exchange for a micropayment currency that would be similar to an upvote on digg or reddit or a "like" on facebook. You can then "flattr" someone else's article, pictures, or content. Mass collections of micropayments then go to WikiLeaks via a payment of his choosing I imagine.

Also, we should be sending money to WikiLeaks, not Assange directly. Correct?

PayPal needs to reverse their stance.

PRESS RELEASE
Tue 7 Dec 15.55 GMT

Julian Assange Defense Fund (http://www.businessinsider.com/julian-assanges-defense-fund-frozen-2010-12#) frozen.

The Swiss Bank Post Finance today issues a press release stating that it had frozen Julian Assange's defense fund and personal assets (http://www.businessinsider.com/julian-assanges-defense-fund-frozen-2010-12#) (31K EUR) after reviewing him as a "high profile" individual.

The technicality used to seize the defense fund was that Mr. Assange, as a homeless refugee attempting to gain residency in Switzerland, had used his lawyers address in Geneva for the bank's correspondence.

Late last week, the internet payment giant PayPal, froze 60Keur of donations to the German charity the Wau Holland Foundation, which were targeted to promote the sharing of knowledge via WikiLeaks.

WikiLeaks and Julian have lost 100Keur in assets this week.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the Cablegate exposure is how it is throwing into relief the power dynamics between supposedly independent states like Switzerland, Sweden and Australia.

WikiLeaks also has public bank accounts (http://www.businessinsider.com/julian-assanges-defense-fund-frozen-2010-12#) in Iceland (preferred) and Germany.

Please help cover our expenditures while we fight to get our assets back.

I'd gladly donate a bit and would be happy to help out a start-up competitor to paypal especially if that new competitor was the co-founder of TPB those guys know how to stand their ground against TPTB.
