The selection of Bachus by the House Republican Steering Committee is expected to be ratified on Wednesday by the House Republican Conference, the aide said. Bachus would replace Democrat Barney Frank, a chief architect of Obama's crackdown on Wall Street. Bachus of Alabama has said he would try to roll back portions of the sweeping law.

FYI, this is the committee assignment. We're waiting for the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy and Technology.

The Chairman of the Financial Services Committee appoints the Chairman of the subcommittees.

Ron Paul supposedly backed Spencer Bachus for the Chairman position so hopefully, Bachus will return the favor.

Likely this means that Ron Paul's big day is really tomorrow. No?

Yea, I would think so because Bachus isn't officially Chairman-elect until after the full House GOP votes tomorrow on the selections.

Anyone know anything about Bachus' views?

Typical bankster owned neocon?

However, one good thing about him becoming Chairman is this quote I read in an article:

"He also had bolstered support by vowing to enable his subcommittee chairmen to advance their agendas under his chairmanship, eliciting their backing and heading off other potential challengers for the committee gavel.

I'll continue to give my subcommittee chairs a chance to lead on issues of their expertise. … We're going to have an inclusive approach that includes all members of the committee.”

Directly from Bachus' website:

'...Bachus said he was disappointed that Democrats also refused to adopt Congressman Ron Paul’s “Audit the Fed” Act.

"Taxpayers want to see for themselves what their government is doing with their money. And that includes specifically the Federal Reserve, an institution that has unfettered powers and whose colossal errors of judgment were a crucial cause of the financial crisis,” Bachus said...'

Didn't Bachus have a love-fest with Bernanke during his reappointment hearings?

From here (http://blogs.cqrollcall.com/notepad/2009/09/did-delay-dance-on-ron-pauls-h.html):

But Paul has a defender in the current top Republican on the Financial Services Committee, Rep. Spencer Bachus of Alabama, who appointed him to the leading spot on the subcommittee with Republicans in the minority.

"There are people who said 'Is this the best thing to do?' I felt like it was," Bachus said. "I'm glad I appointed him. I have no regret."
