View Full Version : THE PLAN for 2012: Marco Rubio as VP!

It should be obvious to everyone that the RNC is fast-tracking Marco Rubio to the Presidency.

I believe the plan is this:

Make Rubio the VP candidate as early as possible and get him to be VP. Then have him run for President next time around.

The GOP wants the Hispanic vote badly, and generally speaking most Hispanics tend to be socially conservative (many are Catholic, many are against abortion, many have strong work ethics, many believe in family values, etc). The Hispanics by and large "should" be with the GOP, but they aren't. This is one reason the GOP establishment has tried so hard to marginalize and quell the anti-illegal immigration movement within it's own ranks, they don't want to offend the Hispanic community.

My guess?

If the 2012 Presidential Race comes down to Romney or Gingrich, then the first one of those two to get Rubio on their side as VP, will probably win! Rubio is a Senator, is from a swing state, is Hispanic, and is "perceived" as a "conservative" and "Tea Partier".

Thoughts?
How will this affect Ron Paul and the 2012 run?
How will this affect Rand Paul?

Kick it around a bit, I am sure this will be a fascinating discussion.

I look at it like this.... If Marco Rubio, whom I like as of right now, is truely a conservative and tea party mentality, then he will not go with either Romney or Gingrich....

If he is just a GOP Waterdog, then he will show his true colors by going with them.....

Out of the two you listed, which neither I like at all, Gingrich would be the better pick...

How will it affect Ron Paul? Ron may be able to get to Marco Rubio. I rem hearing a speech done by Rubio once where he mentioned he was a fan of Ron Paul, and how hard he has been fighting in Congress. So maybe Marco could help Ron get some votes.

Rand I do not think is thinking about President or Vice for 2012. I could be wrong, but I believe Marco and Rand are on the same page, and honestly I hope they work together to get someone worth being elected in 2012, whether it be Rand,Ron, or hell even Marco himself....

I wouldn't doubt it at all. All you need to know is Rubio was off to Israel the weekend he won. Gingrich and Rubio would be the Zionist/Zionist ticket. Scary!

Romney/Rubio, the preferred ticket of Wall St. and the neo-conservatives.

Actually, I think Rand is more likely to be asked to be VP. They don't want him to have policy clout, but boy do they want the independents the Pauls bring in. That has been my suspicion since Jeb Bush, Palin, Huckabee, Barbour all came to KY for him.

Romney, now HE might pick Rubio.

I really think you are wrong about Rubio and that he is an establishment GOP type. I hope I'm wrong and you are right, but I don't think that's so.

I agree with you, Matt. The (R)'s could pick up one 3-4% potentially with Rubio and the hispanic vote. That'll be all it'd take in 2012.

As for Rand? 2016 or later. Rand is only in his late 40's, right? He's got a *lot* of time for positioning. I think a lot of us here would quit our jobs to go campaign for him When he decides to run.

It's just going to be whoever can fear monger the most and who can convince R voters that he has the biggest unit at the debates. Guiliani and Romney tried hard, but they couldn't compete with McCain.
