I saw this thread on another forum, and I thought it was worth posting here.

This began as a post on another thread, but the list is growing so long that I figured it deserved its own. I'll try to keep it updated.

Glenn Beck (http://www.lewrockwell.com/blog/lewrw/archives/71803.html) said that Julian Assange should be tried for treason and executed.

Mike Huckabee (http://dailycaller.com/2010/11/30/huckabee-calls-for-execution-of-leaker/) said, "“Whoever in our government leaked that information is guilty of treason,
and I think anything less than execution is too kind a penalty."

Bill O'Reilly (http://www.prisonplanet.com/oreilly-wikileaks-leakers-are-traitors-should-be-executed-or-spend-life-in-jail-video.html) said leakers are traitors who "should be executed or put in prison for life.”

YouTube - Bill O,Reilly wishes a Drone would kill Julian Assange (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRMV7zi4h_k)

Sarah Palin (http://www.computerworlduk.com/news/it-business/3251386/sarah-palin-says-target-wikileaks-julian-assange-like-the-taliban/) said to "target WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange like the Taliban."

Peter King (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-20023941-38.html), Congressman, wants Wikileaks designated a terrorist organization.

Wayne Simmons (http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201007310003) of Fox News calls Wikileaks a terrorist organization.

YouTube - "WE SHOULD EXECUTE LEAKERS!" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1waHdBrmrJk) Liz Cheney (daughter of Dick Cheney) said Obama should shut down Wikileaks and prosecute Julian Assange.

Mike Rogers (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/08/03/congressman-calls-execution-wikileaks-whistleblower/), Congressman, calls for treason charges and execution.

Conservatives (http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/pack-assange-off-to-guantanamo-us-conservatives-tell-obama-2117399.html) tell Obama to send Julian Assange to Guantanamo.

YouTube - Rush Limbaugh on Wikileaks Julian Assange (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FH_y3TpGqfw)

Rush Limbaugh, radio talk show host: "Back in the old days when men were men and countries were countries, this guy would die of lead poisoning from a bullet in the brain..."

Todd Schnitt (http://www.schnittshow.com/pages/reward.html), radio talk show host: "Assange is a terrorist, an enemy combatant, and needs to be treated as such."

YouTube - Steve Gill Suggests Julian Assange be Declared a Terrorist. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJybk7FNu68)Steve Gill, radio talk show host, says Assange should be targetted as a terrorist, and captured or killed.

YouTube - Harper advisor calls for assassination of Wikileaks director (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqtIafdoH_g)

Tim Flanagan, University of Calgary Professor: ""Well I think Assange should be assassinated actually. . . I think Obama should put out a contract and maybe use a drone or something."

John Hawkins (http://townhall.com/columnists/JohnHawkins/2010/11/30/5_reasons_the_cia_should_have_already_killed_julia n_assange/page/2), blogger, says the CIA should assassinate Julian Assange:

Julian Assange is not an American citizen and he has no constitutional rights. So, there's no reason that the CIA can't kill him. Moreover, ask yourself
a simple question: If Julian Assange is shot in the head tomorrow or if his car is blown up when he turns the key, what message do you think that would send about releasing sensitive American data?

YouTube - Brad Thor on Wikileaks (updated) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8Gudc8aqnE)

Brad Thor, author, said Bradley Manning should get the death penalty.

Candice Miller (http://biggovernment.com/cmiller/2010/12/01/it-is-past-time-to-shut-down-wikileaks/), Congresswoman: "Julian Assange and WikiLeaks are criminals whose actions support
terrorists and criminal regimes around the world.  It is now long past
time for our government to shut WikiLeaks down."

G. Gordon Liddy (http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=234905), former White House advisor and radio talk show host: Assange deserves to be on kill list.

Surprising. A bunch of people who believe in killing people for their freedom of speech want to kill Assange. Thanks for posting this. Just reminds me that I have the right people on my list of people not to listen to.

And I don't understand how Assange is being vilified when NY times and all the others that posted the info the day before are not.

They're all reporters, after all. Freedom of the press, but only some press...not others. Wonder what these idiots would have done to Ben Franklin back in the day?

I find it amusing when people say Assange should be charged with treason. Either they don't know what treason means or they think the USA rules the world. I don't know which is worse.

Right? Morons!

Paul Craig Roberts (http://original.antiwar.com/roberts/2010/12/01/a-government-caught-up-in-mendacity-and-lies/):

In the past few days the more notorious of the dumbshits that sit in the US Congress have denounced Assange as a "traitor to America." What total ignorance. Assange is an Australian, not an American citizen. To be a traitor to America, one has to be of the nationality. An Australian cannot be a traitor to America any more than an American can be a traitor to Australia. But don’t expect the morons who represent the lobbyists to know this much.

To be fair, I think there is some difference between calling for the assassination of Assange and trying those in the government who leaked the information to wikileaks for treason.

I don't agree with either. The people who are leaking the documents could be CIA, but if not are providing I believe a necessary transparency on illegal and immoral wars.

Assange, however, is merely the press providing the leaked information to the public and deserves special protection for that. He is not leaking the documents himself.

It's like a school of piranhas, catching their first taste of blood.

Even in my most politically ignorant days, I'd never call for Assange's assassination. I'm being overly polite, to say the least....these people are either complete sociopaths....or, well, they're sociopaths. This is why "civilized" society is so uncivilized.

I bring this up because some of the quotes call for trying or assassinating Assange, and others (including Huckabee) actually call for trying the people who leaked the documents to Assange, and I assume are not calling for any government actions against Assange on the side (otherwise those quotes should be posted instead, or in addition to)

So I have to ask, whose lives are in danger because of this?

The only thing I'll grant that could possibly endanger lives is when informants names were leaked during the Afghanistan leak. However, I've yet to see any evidence that any of those informants were killed or anything.

A good finish to the would have been a line break followed by

Ron Paul - “In a free society we're supposed to know the truth,” Paul said. “In a society where truth becomes treason, then we're in big trouble. And now, people who are revealing the truth are getting into trouble for it.”

Assange also requested that the State Dept (I think) go through the docs and make note of anything that may put someone in danger....they turned him down.
