I assume they are just trying to protect themselves from being censured should they get caught performing an action which could call for a censure?

"oh, no!! Please don't actually give him a lecture in front of the cameras! Please send him a strongly worded letter, instead!"

Geez, he should be getting a LOT more punishment than that.

Probably, but even a censure doesn't come close to enough. All a censure is is they make you stand in the well while the Speaker tells you you are crooked.

This is so bad?

If you or I had done this, we'd be in Federal PMITA prison.

R's and D's alike in the House are begging their colleagues that censure is too cruel for Rangel.

hear here! Censure is too good for him! If you or I would be in Federal PMITA prison right now, "ignorance of the law is no excuse" Rangle was the twerp who WROTE the damn tax code  If you or I would be in Federal Prison, that's the LEAST of what the guy who WROTE the tax codes he violated deserves.

What is with these morons calling in to CSPAN saying censurship is too harsh?? Give me a break, all the guy will have to do is stand there and take a slap on the wrist by Pelosi. What a crock!

GunnyFreedom
12-02-2010, 04:24 PM
a lot of ppl say it should be harsher than censureship too.

GunnyFreedom
12-02-2010, 04:27 PM
so far it looks like the vote to reduce Rangel's sentence from censure to reprimand will fail.

GunnyFreedom

The Sonafubitch should go right to jail. What he did is worse than what Wesley Snipes did so he really should do MORE time than Snipes

Three R's voted with D's on a mere reprimand of Rangel: Peter King, Don Young, and Ron Paul.

GunnyFreedom

reduction amendment fails, now the censure vote. Recorded vote, 15min

GunnyFreedom

2 R's are now listed as opposing the censure. If RP is one of those I'm gonna spit

Anyone have a theory of why he would have voted for the reprimand amendment instead of censure??

Dunno, maybe he admires people who hate taxed? i don't get it. Rangel was the bugger who WROTE the tax code. If anything he should get a harsher sentence than us mundanes who merely need to try and understand what Rangel wrote for us to obey.

maybe mercy for some average guy, but mercy for Rangel after all he has pulled? no way!

Maybe he thinks this circus about one man's corruption is a little over the top? (It is funny, though! And he earned it.)

I'll wait to hear an explanation, but I'm not happy.

Hose is voting OVERWHELMINGLY to censure Charlie Rangel. Current tally is 323 AYE - 78 NAY with 2 R's voting against, 33 not yet voting

My theory is he hit the wrong button on his voting device. haha
GunnyFreedom, let's just hope for the time being he isn't one of the 2 Republicans voting against censure.

This is going to be hilarious! I'm on the edge of my seat here, this is going to be pure comedy once they read the censure!

Hear here! with the two previous votes today PLUS voting "NAY" on Rangel's censure, that would pretty much stop any hope of a 2012 primary nod. :(

ETA -- LMAO though, he's been there for 30 dam years, he knows how to operate his voting device ;)

I've been busy at work today so I haven't been following much. What were the two previous votes he cast today that would stop any hope of a primary nod. (Unless one of those you are referring to was the reprimand vote)

Eh, Pelosi's reading of the censure was kind of short and lacking content. Could have been more funny. He still got told, though.

Reprimand was one of them, the other was that tax thing that R's are griping about.

um. censure (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censure_in_the_United_States) is not censor (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Censorship). Two entirely different concepts.

Charlie Rangel is...it would take too long to explain. Suffice it to say one of the dirtiest critters in Congress who was chair of the Ways and Means comittee who wrote our tax code for the last 20-odd years, and for the last 17 years has failed to report half a million dollars in income.

Really, this Rangel censure thing has been building for over a year now. I can't easily explain it comprehensively within 24hrs...
