this is something I have been posting on message boards around the internet. any feedback would be appreciated.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm opening this thread for open discussion on Ron Paul – tune in to Fox tonight (Sunday night) to watch the Republican debate at 8:00 PM Eastern.

Ron Paul is a candidate for the Republican Party of the USA running for president in 2008.

Here's a quick run down on Dr. Ron Paul's positions:

- respecting the rights of every person by respecting people as individuals, not as members of groups deserving government handouts and entitlements or special treatment of any kind.

- a policy of non-intervention, no nation building, no policing of the world. Unjust wars cost billions upon billions of taxpayer dollars, irreparably harm the USA's reputation abroad resulting cause serious "blowback", and of course the human cost of war on of both American civilians and the innocent civilians under attack. Ron Paul believes, like most Americans that the proper way to spread our values is by setting an example of true freedom and never force our will by the barrel of a gun.

- respecting and obeying the constitution America was founded on!

- a strong national defense, secure borders, strict rules on illegal immigrants which are taking a heavy toll on the government run services and the economy. Immigrants can provide strength for American, under the current system, they are scapegoats while the real cause of our economic difficulties are masked: the broken monetary system (see below).

- a return to solid monetary policy. no printing cash from thin air to pay for bloated bureaucracies , the consequences of which are currently visible in the weak US dollar, will and eventually lead to a major economic downturn without change in the monetary system. money should always be backed by gold - "the gold standard", a return to the importance on hard currency, a common sense reversion to the basic principles of how money and commerce operates in a democratic society.

- reduce and eliminate involvement in international organizations, such as the world court and the United Nations which threaten US sovereignty.

- phase out the IRS, ending the income tax with the billions of dollars saved by a common sense foreign policy of non-intervention.

- allow the free market to compete with government offered services to end bloated monopolies on the services the public relies on.

- a return to openness in politics ending corruption plaguing the politics of the United States today.

- one size does not fit all, states should control their NOT the federal government.

- end the drug war. treat people with drug problems as people who need medical and psychological help, NOT as criminals. End the waste of billions of dollars in an unwinnable, pointless “war” on drugs.

I implore Americans who believe in TRUE freedom to vote for Ron Paul for the Republican primaries, unless you want more war, more taxes, and more incursions on your personal liberties and privacy. Paul raised $5 million dollars in the 3rd quarter, and is now in the top-tier candidates for the Republican Party.

Read about his ideas which will revolutionize American politics and return to the glory days of the United Sates based on the value of the United States Constitution, and respecting personal liberty.

If you can pick the three most tailored bullet points for the crowd on the message board, it'll have the most impact. Seriously, 3 and no more. People find it so hard to stick to 3, but anymore and eyes just glaze over.
