WASHINGTON – Striking back, the Obama administration branded the WikiLeaks release of more than a quarter-million sensitive files an attack on the United States Monday and raised the prospect of criminal prosecutions in connection with the exposure. The Pentagon detailed new security safeguards, including restraints on small computer flash drives, to make it harder for any one person to copy and reveal so many secrets.

For a long time now, there's been too much secrecy in this city. The old rules said that if there was a defensible argument for not disclosing something to the American people, then it should not be disclosed. That era is now over. Starting today, every agency and department should know that this administration stands on the side not of those who seek to withhold information but those who seek to make it known.

Yes, great post. If Assange had broken these files when Bush was in office, he'd be hailed in the media (well, not Fox) as a whistle-blower hero.

Instead, everybody wants to shoot the messenger. Literally.

LOL. I remember seeing him say that and thinking, "Yeah right, we'll see." Good post.

Let me say it as simply as I can: Transparency and the rule of law will be the touchstones of this presidency.

Oh that's good stuff...

It just proves that ALL these clowns in Washington DC create the empire of LIES. Oh they tell you what to believe, they tell you what's right and what's wrong, anything to drag the people along to THEIR AGENDA. Washington and these scummy politicians know the aptitude and attention span of the American people.

We don't call it the United States of Amnesia for nothing

We are witnessing the extinction of the ruling class. Freedom isn't just an idea, it's our purpose to bring it about in a non violent manner. Leaking the truth is a non violent manner.

When the sun hits the vampires they hiss and shrivel.

I've given it some thought and have a hypothesis,

Their heads contain a vacuum, and like a black hole any explosion is sucked inward and is lost in an expanse of emptiness.

Good a theory as any.

How do they keep their heads from exploding?

I learned a long time ago, when the walls of a pressure vessel are thick enough, they can withstand tremendous pressure without exploding. :D

Also a valid theory. :)

Of course there could be no containment at all,
So like black powder spread out on the floor there is a flash and smoke, leaving only stink behind.

Absolutely. FDR wasn't kidding when he said, "In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way."

That is a good copy and paste. Time to visit some "Obama is King" sites and give them a little reminder, maybe it will shock a couple of them "back" into reality.

These days Obama is just working on points for style....... ;)
